Manual lock

Featured Replies

My Skoda locks manualy

would it be possible for me to get a remote key lock to work

or would I need all kinds fitted to the door to enable this

or is it just a case of ordering a key from Skoda

and of course having it enabled

I believe remote locking can be retro-fitted, but it'll probably cost so much as to be prohibitive.

I don't think it's THAT dear or difficult, actually. There's a guide on here I think - have a search!

OK, thanks guys

When you say it lock's manually, is this an Octavia II or the Octy I? I thought all Octy II's came with central locking. Mine doesn't even have a space for the pop-up lock buttons on the back doors as far as I can remember...

2005 Octy,, I presumed it to be a ll series

The Octy II was made from 2004 on, though they still made Octy I's for taxi use. If the boot has a rubber covered button to open it rather than a mechanical handle it's an Octy II. I didn't think they made any without central locking (I never saw any when I was looking, but maybe the Irish spec was different).

Upgrading the door locks should be a case of taking the door card off and bolting an actuator onto each lock (I'm guessing all the fitting points are ready and waiting in the door). The real headache is going to be wiring from each actuator to the rest of the car and finding what control box is needed and where to receive the remote control signal and talk to the door and boot locks and to the rest of the car.

I'd talk to a dealer and see what they reckon as it may be a relatively quick job if they're familiar with it.

Cheers mate

I think if its all that much messing

I will percivere with the door key method:D

As you say though

I may ring the dealer see what they have to say

There is an easier way.....

If it looks like this:

113-1373_img-.jpg

It's a Mk I

If it looks like this:

It's a Mk II

Niall

Too lazy to dig out pictures, so I picked something that was a universal change between all models regardless of spec :).

Mine looks like both of them:D

But I do have a rubber catch for the boot

however

my bumper is all colour not black

also my bonnet looks more like the red pic

I dont have any front foggies

I have indicators on my mirrors not on my side arch

I think this is a hybrid between the two:D

no wonder they keep giving me the wrong stuff in the motor factrs

i,e, brakes bulbs and so forth:rofl:

It sounds like you have an Octy II - the indicators on the mirrors were never on the Octy I. Stick up a photo though. Motor factors are great at giving the wrong parts regardless of how well defined the car model is TBH. I've been waiting for 2 months to get the correct set of reverse parking sensors to replace the faulty ones in my car. The dealer who's as fed up as I am at this stage keeps getting sent the same sensor, which looks very different to what's already fitted and has an incompatible plug.
