DM Flywheel being replaced

Featured Replies

The dual mass flywheel is being replaced this week on my 08 RS CR with 32kms. I complained about it at the first service at 15k km (the signs where there a week after I got the car) the clutch peddle was jumpy when pressed slightly but the garage said it was vibration from the engine... bull ****! I had my flywheel replaced in my previous 05 GTi so I know what the signs are.

Anyway I got a different skoda garage to check it out and they confirmed its the flywheel. So off to get a new flywheel, under warranty of course :)

Can you get this problem on a VRS CR with the DSG box?

Don't know if the VRS DSG 'box is different but I had to have a dual mass flywheel replaced at 60,000 miles on my DSG 'box (1.9 TDi) and it needs another now at 93,000!!

Valeo do a single mass flywheel kit, more reliable I've been told, you can also buy the clutch parts seperately when the clutch wears out,no need to re buy flywheel again ......

Just had my flywheel and clutch replaced but single mass converted by Skoda under warranty.

Maybe the 2.0TDi can have this too:confused:

To the best of my knowladge, the single mass flywheel is not available for the DSG gearbox, only the manual.

You are correct, I looked for one, just had my DMF replaced at 102k

My new flywheel is arriving Wen after a 2 week wait! Hope to have it fitted early next week...

I am not up on all this DM disussion but can you tell me about what i had done. Its a 55 plate 2.0 dsg Elegance and about 18 months ago when it was serviced they said it has a noise from the starter and would have to replace under warranty the flywheel and starter which they did and no noise was heard after. So have i had a DM fitted or was it just as i said which was done. On the service sheet it only had rectify noise when starting.

My DM flywheel is being replaced today. Hopefully it will last longer than the last one...

Well I got the DMF fitted today and guess what... The vibration is there and slightly worse. They replaced the flywheel without fitting a new clutch. So Im not happy. I called the dealer and they said thay would take another look. So do I insist on another flywheel being fitted and this time a new clutch? What do you think I should do next? Skoda dont tend to fit clutch's with their flywheels unless badly worn. Mine only has 30K KMS on it too

I'm not happy

To be fair i paid for a new clutch after DMF2 because skoda would not and it wasn't exactly badly worn. If i'd had the car from new I would not have bothered.

When you say you have vibrations, if the DMF is more solid than the old one it could transmit more vibration from the engine into the gearbox etc.

I had a similar problem on my previous MK V Gti and I got a new clutch and DMF again from VW and the second set was perfect and smooth.

Its a horrible feel from the pedal.
