New vRS - odd noise

Featured Replies

Took the new vRS out for its first long spin today (been too busy playing with Mrs Rondo's Fab vRS up til now :D ) and noticed an odd noise

Every so often there is what I can only describe as a clunk noise from somewhere on the rear passenger side. It sometimes happens going round a (or coming off a) roundabout or sometimes if I go over a bump (noticed it on rumble strips) but not all the time. It's not a creak or a rattle just a single clunk. At one point I thought it may be something in the boot but it sounds more like it's coming from around the rear door area or even the wheel. Tried rocking the car up and down and side to side but can't force it to happen.

Anyone got any ideas????

Try a road test with the rear seats folded down, might get a better idea.

Rondo, I was getting an odd knocking noise, sounded like a stone hitting the rear 1/4.

Eventually found out it was simply the rear seat belt chromed buckle, knocking against the rear inner wheel arch plastic cover.

Normally happened when cornering vigourously.

Seat belt buckles was my first thought but it wasn't that - they are both sitting against the seats.

Will put the seats down at the w/end and drive it around to see if I can hear more clearly where it's coming from

i used to hear something simular but it doesnt happen anymore.

i do have a rattle coming from boot somewhere since i loaded it full of camping gear but i'll be damned if i can find that now.

I had something similar in the first fw weeks of ownership. Always happened when turning right out of my road.

I put it down to the springs shifting in it's strut seat. After a few miles of bedding in sound is gone.

Bet its the back seat moving on its clip. Release the seat, fold down a bit and undo the rubber stop at the back of the seat a bit, clip seat back and give it a try. Mine did this when it was a few days old!

Nope, that was my second thought after the seat belt clips. The seats are sitting very securely with no play in them at all

Will have to take it out at the w/end and investigate where it is coming from. Wherever, it was getting pretty annoying yesterday

What do you expect, it is a Skoda, give it 6 months and bits will start falling off :).

Bizarre - took the car out today to have a listen for this noise and nothing there. However, there was a fair bit of wind noise form the rear passenger side - a bit like the door was partly open only it wasn't (nor the boot and the windows were all fully up). Don't remember that in the old one - is it normal?
