"limp home"

Featured Replies

Hi I am searching any where I can for a solution to my problem.

The problem is I have a Renault Laguna II 1.8 16 valve dimonique 2002 petrol, & it has developed the dreaded LIMP HOME mode.So far it has cost me a fortune in replacing parts that never needed replacing as the problem is still there.

This is the problem, Car goes into Limp mode, no throttle response, High revs with no assistance from me. When I stop the car & re insert the card key all is fine until I drive on then it kicks in again.

Any advice or help will be welcome.

Could be so many things. Have you had a diagnostic scan done on it?

Carlos... what an appropriate name  Spoze it'd be more ironic if your car had been nicked

Sorry to hear of the probs... we don't get many Renault questions round here...

Welcome to Briskoda! :)

Apologies for my strange sense of (non)humour! :o

Well there seems to be more knowledge on this forum than the R*****t one:rofl: I wish it would get nicked:thumbup: save me all the headache & digging deep into my pocket.

I will never buy french again:thumbdwn:

I can only suggest you have a Renualt dealer do a diagnostic check, it may seem the expensive way of a fix but they would be be experts in diagnosing the root cause of your problem. £50 or £60 for a diagnostic test should show up any faults and may only cost a few pounds to repair but would save a lot of grief in the future.

So is the next car a Skoda Carlos?

Hiya.

I know burglar all about Renaults, but in general terms what I'd do is get the EMS fault codes read and insist on a hard copy that you can show us (and a proper mechanic rather than a "vehicle techician" who may only have the manufacturer's training, not an actual vehicle diagnosis/repair qualification that can transfer from make to make).

Basically I reckon the main stealer is following a "codes say this, replace this" or infinite number of chimps with typewriters fault-finding method, rather than interpreting the way the car's running with all the fault codes to reach a diagnosis that the wee-huge duffer's firmaset gasjit is leaking.

Welcome. You might also be better posting in 'General Car Chat' :)

welcome
