Was looking trough the forums when I came across this photo of an Octy parked beside a Golf. Couldn't help but notice how much better the golf fits together. Look at how wide the gaps around the Octy doors are compared with the Golf.

havent most of the shortfalls of build quality of the Golf , been the overall quality of fit of the interior, and the rattles coming from the car after a period of time , also the quality of the plastics fitted ?

Have to say you can not compare those cars at all. The golf is at a totally different angle!

It is nearly taken directly behind the car...and you wont see many gaps around the doors if you cant even see them!!

I'd have to disagree with you there william, the Golfs finish isn't really any better than the octy's. Golfs have the same gaps as the octy does. As for the picture, both are at different angles, and the golf is futher away, taken that into account then maybe the gaps are bigger on the golf rather than the octy

I think my Fabia clearly has better build quality than my dads Polo TDI Sport.

Having just sold a Golf to get my Octy,

I found that the golf rattles! and suffers from general poor build quality, the Octavia is 4k less, is faster, handles better, brakes better, has better standard equipement, is a bigger car, bigger wheels.

Golfs suck!

Panel gaps are not an indication of build quality, they only serve to give an illusion of superior assembly, which is not always the case.

I think they designed the rear doors on the Octavia to have a larger gap, so the doors don't get worn out with all the opening and closing at the taxi ranks...

Who cares???? My Octv vRS goes lick f**k, didn't cost the earth, looks stuning and does not look fat n overwieght like the golfy thing!! (or me come to that. ROFLMFAO)

Most cars i have observed (including Golfs ) on the road have the same gap,as long as the doors close properley then whats the problem,i don't think you can fault the looks of the octy vrs.
