Fuel Duty Petition.

Featured Replies

And?

If you drive 20,000 miles p.a. then your fuel cost will increase with rougly £40, or 11 p. per day. If you every day took 11p. out of your pocket and put it in a jar (or just tossed it away), would you even notice that your financial situation had changed?

What about lorries?

Get rid of them?

Get rid of them?

OK so how will your food get to store, and how much will it add to the cost without lorries?

Remember if using rail, they often strike as well ;)

I didn't actually say Apathy was the problem, apathy is part of the problem and many of the things others have mentioned feed into the main problem. There are many things that could be done, some are illegal some they have made illegal, if you are willing to go out and risk gettingsent to jail then that is your choice, I am not and so decided to promote a petition which is a legal avanue open to me to hoefully prove to the government that this is an issue people care abot and are willing to stand up and say it. we could argue this till the cows come home, you are either willing to support the petition or not, but if the answer is you are not, what are you going to do?

Cheers for the support,

Faskoda.

stop letting more people in and reduce the amount of money people send out of the country.

Oh and stop paying benefits to those who can work but wont because they are getting loads for having a large family!

Hammer - Nail - Head...

A couple of personal experiences...

An old mate, hadnt seen him for ages, eventually caught up with him. Said between him and his missus, they have 4 kids, free rent, free council tax, free this, free that, as well as £300 a week paid into their bank... I get paid £10 per hour at my job, and they have almost the same cash in the bank for sitting on their arses all day long, as well as a free house...

Another mate who I worked with, recently got made redundant. Went to sign on. When filling out his forms etc, he overheard 2 people saying "F*** getting a job, this is too easy..."

Says it all about this country IMHO... Pity the missus doesnt want to emigrate...

Interesting thread...

Prices of over £20 per litre are already here.

27 Litres of petrol cost me nearly £500 last week!

Fuel is not an issue, if it was, a Political Party would be picking the wall paper for No 10 today. And Babs look at HGVs see what they carry, then try and live without everthing. While people sit back and leave it to someone else, you will be walked over.

Cheers for the support guys, we got over 168,000 signatures at the end so well worth giving it a go if you ask me.

like everything else, if joe public make anough noise the politicians will have to take notice, that's the whole idea. I

f no-on says anything and we (motorists) all keep paying the money, they will be happy seeing us as a 'soft target' to keep taking it and funding all their pet projects. The longer it goes on the worse it will get as more and more people/companies will see motorists in the same way IMHO, of course.

They'll delay the rise almost certainly until after the election.

Now would be a good time for a fuel protest.

I think it is rght that the all politicians will continue to continue to treat mtorists as a cash cow and signing and protesting does absolutely naff all (though I'll gladly sign this for you). People keep harping on about the Global Warming issue but I am a huge sceptic over the man made climate change issue anyway. Slightly off topic but I believe in the NASA theory of natural change and a lot of it being caused by water vapout in the atmosphere. That's not convenient to governments and bankers and scientist and journos and all else who make a fortune out of this. Man made is much more convenient ( and the leftists new hobby horse) as politicians can use propaganda to play on people's consciences to control and tax them. Notice nobody ever says "CARBON DIOXIDE" but alway spit out "Seeeohtoo" as though it were some kind of poison not a natural gas essential to lifes balance. Sorry for the rant but don't buy the propaganda, and that email scandal made me more convinced it is a racket.

I wonder where the revenue would go if we all switched to driving Prius cars (which Autocar only managed to get 45mpg out off in their recent long term test). Rant over guys.

Bah, there is loads of oil left. Just not so much cheap easy oil.

What is left is either expensive to get, Canadian tar sands, or hard to get geologically or politically.

We'll be weaned off fossil oil because of the price before it runs out, we'll be making diesel for trucks from vegetable oil and ethanol for cars.

Electric cars will come in as long as we make the investment into clean generation i.e, more nukes.

Though it might be a long shot investment if anyone sets up an offshore wave/wind station to power a water cracking plant for hydrogen.

Never believe a ranting doom monger, the future might be expensive but the lights aren't going to go out.

We've got loads of coal right here if we're really stuck.

Just been reading an article in Automobile Year. Electric cats not properly viable for at least 20 years.Battery tech not practical yet and the "environmental" benefits dubious at best when electricity is produced from Coal/ gas fired power stations. Ethanol powered cars get my vote over milk floats. It's what pre war Grand Prix cars ran on! Engine fans don't worry plenty of life in the i/c engine yet: great engines like the FIAT Multiair come to mind.

According to the papers it's coming, I think the worst thing te lorry drivers did though was to distance themselves from the general public, the issue effects us all and we should stick together, IMHO. There's no diifference between it being a haulage company's life blood to a travelling salesman or taxi driver for example.

Agreed and the AA has said there sbould be a freeze but doubt it will happen. I don't expect any succour for motorists should the Tories get in either.

You might to try ****ing into the wind while you're at it, because a petition will be about that useful.
