Scrappage, price protection, VAT, delivery times, confusing picture?

Featured Replies

Is anyone else running into these sort of issues? It seems the situation is rather confused.

Looking at a 1.2 TSI, build week is around beginning November with delivery due (though not guaranteed) mid-December.

Scrappage seems to be fine, vehicle tagged, scrappage booked, 2.5k off, thank you very much.

VAT is also fine, it will go up by 2.5% in January, but even if the car is delayed Skoda guarantee price to be paid.

What is not guaranteed is price protection if Skoda put the prices up - but in theory price increases across the range have already come in to dealers so there will not be any further increases... hopefully.

I haven't seen this anywhere. On what do you base it?

When enquiring about a Yeti last weekend, I was told that providing the car was delivered before the end of January, they'd still do it at the pre-vat increase price.

Ask a dealer to look it up on the Skoda system.

They have a grid with the various parameters on it, the variables (from memory) are:

when the car is ordered, when it is consigned and when it is delivered

the outcomes are:

qualifies for scrappage, price protected re Skoda price increases and price protected re VAT.

Again from memory, this changes on the 1st of the month.

For example: a car ordered now, consigned November, delivered December or January will have a different outcome to the same model ordered November, built January, delivered February. But, depending on which model, you could possibly order November for December delivery and still qualify for all the price guarantees.

As noted on other threads, some models are simply not available to order, or not available for delivery, until well into next year.

Even on a base model Yeti, an extra 2.5% Vat adds around GBP300.
