Extended Warranties????

Featured Replies

Right got a quote on Warranty Direct for a comprehensive warranty for my Fab VRS came out at £323 for a year which seems good value considering everything is covered bar tyres, bulbs and brakes. What i wanted to know is has anybody else got this sort of warranty and whether they've had to claim on it and if the company are 'happy' to pay out? Im really keen to get the warranty especially as the fab has just been remapped and i dont want a big bill should anything go wrong.

Yes. I'm with WD and I recently had to claim for a throttle body replacement about 4 weeks after taking the policy out. Took the car to the main dealer. They diagnosed the problem and the bill was just under £400!!!. They called WD and got authorisation to carry out the repair. I booked the car in a few days later. I had to pay the bill upfront then send a copy of the bill, plus MOT and servicing schedule to WD and they sent me a cheque a week later. Simples.

They do impose an excess. Mines £50 of any bill.

HTH

Will they defo cover it if its been remapped? Could be worth checking.

I wasnt planning to tell them about the re map,was thinking that they wouldnt find out about it.Not sure if they inspect the car first or what checks they do to it.

Bad move in my opinion. What if the engine managment or something goes, garage could scan it, find the remap and include this in a report or invoice etc and then if the warranty firm finds out then kiss goodbye to any cover you had. I guess it could also be technically aruged to be fraud or decet (sp).

i hope your declaring it to your insurance aswell, as otherwise your technically one of the many uninsured drivers on our roads pushing up the costs !
