You need 5w40 PD oil, as 0w30 is not suitable

i know its listed as 5-40 pd oil but why isnt mobil1 suitable? too thin? i though mobil 1 was one of the better oil you can buy

The make of the oil doesn't matter IMHO, but the grade of the oil does.

it needs to meet the correct VW spec, if it doesnt it will bugger your engine

For the PD engine on normal (not variable) servicing, you must use an oil that is both 5W-40 and is VW 505.01 grade. I think the reason why this standard is used, is it will stand the high pressures on the cams that operate the PD injectors.

There is a sticky in this section that tells you what you should use. Briskoda.net/fabia-i - What engine oil must I use my Fabia vrs

The Mobil Synt S Special V 5W-40 is the one reconmended by Mobil. Mobil 1is one of the best (and expensive) oils you can buy, but only for PETROL engines.

If her car is on variable servicing intervals (between 10-20K miles) then a 5W-30 meeting VW 507.00 grade long life oil must be used. I have read on a Seat Forum that this can be used in an normal engine only if it has more than 150 BHP (eg. Seat Ibiza Cupra TDI 160s). So Mobil 1 ESP Formula 5W-30 can be used. However for her car I would probaly stick with 505.01 oil.

:agree: when I was getting oil for my Ibiza 507.00 was what I was told they'd put in a PD150 by the local VW parts man, he also asked his SEAT partsdesk friend who said it's what they'd put it in a PD160. Ross also said it was OK

the 507.00 spec covers 505.01 aswell

In my opinion, grab this VW 505.01 Spec Oil Seems to be popular, I've read its not the best money can buy but if your changing every 10K max then it isn't a problem.

If memory serves me right, its about £27 delivered... which, isn't bad for 5L of PD spec oil
