Secure a falling window!

Featured Replies

I'm in a massive pickle, my window regulatore mecahnsim broke last week and i'm waiting for a part. The window has been holding its self up but now it has given way. At 10.00, not very secure. I have gaffer taped it up but i would desperately like to know if there is anyway to secure the window in place over night.

I know how to take the trim off.

Please help!!

Clothes peg

If thats a joke, not really in the mood.

If its not a joke, which i suspect it is, any details?

I used a length of 1" square timber cut to length and wedged in between the base of the door and the bottom of the window. Took a few trims to get the length right but then lasted for months before I finally got round to fixing it.

Thanks for your reply. I take it you had to take off the anciliary carrier to fix this bit of timber?

Partially yes - taped the window up with duck tape to hold it in place and then undid the carried bolts and levered the bottom edge open whilst I wedged the timber in place - it lasted about 6 months through winter.

No, no joke!

Use exactly as Simbo says :) And no need to remove the door card!

Did it on my Octavia when the regulator ate itself!

Surely some strong duct tape will do the job? Mind you, it might not stick to the roof lining...
