speed default

Is 40 mph the new default speed on cars nowadays ? , everytime i go out it seems like someone is holding a line of traffic in a 60 limit , thing is they then go through any 30 limits at the same speed .

Always seems to be on a good fast road but no overtaking places as well .

Avoid them like the plague. They are in their own little world. Take the bike more often :P

OR a gun , its every bloody journey now , went to macclesfield today and its a nice run , both ways tho some genius was stuck at 39 mph , i dont want to drive stupid but making progress is reasonable , there must have been 12 cars in a line stuck .

Ah yes, the '40 everywhere' brigade.

Which way did you go to Macc anyway - surely there must have been a couple of passing places? :)

Through chelford , i wasnt at the front tho mate , the road to the fox is the same and went to crewe today and , yep 40 for lots of it , is it catching or something.?

Ah right, with you - yeah, bet as they came into Chelford they pulled away from everyone, as they continued doing the same speed when it drops from 60 to 30!

I'd have buried it after the Chelford roundabout :D - have many would you have needed to pass?

The road from yours to the Fox is a pain - granted. Got stuck behind an arctic on there last time! Inspired route selection by the national supermarket chain, I must say - good one!:mad:

But but but it's safe because I'm not going fast! ;)

The A64 to and from Scarborough is also their hunting ground. It should be as illegal as doing 80mph in a 60 limit and punishable by crushing their Suzuki Wagon R.

The only person I know even slightly who drives one of those will actually move over for you when you catch them; the problems are V@*xh@11 and R0v*r owners!

It's either ignorance (unsure of limit so hedging bets) or deliberate - control freaks who enjoy the frustration they cause. My dad used to drive everywhere at 50mph regardless, could never work out why and could never make him change. He was quite a timid driver and he considered it a safe speed under all circumstances. Very odd! (Edit - all non 30mph limits that is).

Are they...

A) Not aware of the speed limit (i.e. too lazy to look for the speed limit signs)?

B) James May (AKA Captain Slow)?

(B) Captain Slow isn't that slow; it's a joke based on him not habitually exceeding his talent threshold and running into the countryside!
