Yeti 1.2 engine rpm

Featured Replies

Hi, will be ordering a 1.2 Elegance soon - was wondering if anyone knew the engine rpm in 6th gear when cruising at 75mph. Any info on DSG would be appreciated as well for comparison. Perhaps someone remembers some numbers when test driving...

Even better, does anyone know or have the gear ratios and final gear ratio for the 1.2 manual/DSG ?

cheers,

one more request concerning 1.2 model : the real weight of the car. Is the weight of 1.8 (~1500 kg, as on the brochure) minus haldex weight?

If its a 4x4 model then it will include the weight of the haldex system in the figure, if not, then no, as it wouldn't need to.

1.2 TSI = 1345kg

1.8 TSI = 1505kg

Don't think you can get a 1.2Tfsi in 4x4 mode, I may be wrong though.

Sorry for going off topic, but you must pay more attention :)

Back on Topic......:o

The "V" doesn't stand for anything does it? I thought they just put that on to as not to rip of Fords 'RS'?!

... and ... back on topic! hehe

Can the weight of the1.8 TSi really be 160kg more than the 1.2 TSi?

That's about the weight of two adults!

As has been said the 1.2 doesn't have the 4wd system and the engine is supposed to be particularly light weight too. That info is from the Czech brochure.

the haldex is heavy! lol

Ah yes. The 1.8 is only available as a 4 x 4.

So we are not really comparing like with like!

It would be interesting to compare the weight of the 1.2 petrol with the 2.0 diesel 2WD but the weight of this is not in the UK brochure.

It looks - not surprisingly - like the 1.2 petrol was selected as the low-tune petrol engine. There's presumanly no reason why the 1.2 couldn't deliver say around 135bhp if at the same level of tune (and maybe weight?) as the related 1.4 TSi. If that (ie 1.2/135) engine were available then power:weight of a 1.2 2WD might be pretty similar to the 1.8 4WD.

Just idle speculation really as it's obviously not on offer.

All (well almost) is now revealed in the latest UK brochure:

1.2 TSi 1345kg

2.0 TDi 110hp 1420 kg

2.0 TDi 110hp 4X4 1525kg

It's in the brochure on the Skoda website I noticed.

The 2 litre tdi 110ps 2wd is 1420 kg ie 75 kg more than the 1.2

The 110ps 4d is 1525 kg, so it seems the 4wd system weighs 105 kg

Sorry, I've just noticed Finebone had already posted this info

Here's a little more info on the 1.2 TSI engine:

All true, expect this engine is designed and built by Skoda in Mlada Boleslav :)

In the Polo it delivers a sub 10sec 0-60 time and 53mpg, pretty impressive!

Like all in the TSi range, it delivers its torque right where its needed, at low to mid range.

The 1.2 TSi has figures of 175 Nm. from 1500 to 3500 rpm and that's quite impressive.

Compare that to the normally aspirated 1.2 in the Polo - a rather weedy 108 Nm at 3000rpm

Difference between chalk'n cheese.

I think think the TSI engine is mapped differently in the Polo to the Yeti, because in the Polo it delivers the same peak torque from 1550-4100RPM!

More importantly than the comparison to the NA 1.2 (which is a cheap base engine) it has 22NM more torque than the 1.6 in my Roomster which the 1.2TSI is gradually replacing and it delivers it 2300RPM lower too.

I'd definitely consider it for the Yeti, given it's diesel rivalling economy but petrol refinement.

Does this mean that the 1.2 and 1.4TSI engines are the same but with different state of tune?

Not likely, since different capacity.

However, can anyone confirm that the 110, 140 and 170 hp versions of the 2.0 TDi CR are all the same engine?
