Neuspeed short shifter?

Featured Replies

Going to buy the neuspeed short shifter for my PD, well i'm not buying it, it's my birthday Saturday so the wife's buying it for me:rofl:.Have done a search on forum for pictures showing how to remove air filter box on diesel and pictures showing how to change the shifter but i can't seem to find it.I know there's a link somehere on here because i remember seeing it some months ago but for the life of me i can't seem to find it now.

Does anyone know where i can find it or have the link to it.Thanks:thumbup:

Don't recall having seen a pic. It's easy though once you've taken ALL the airbox screws out (there are a couple on the exit toward the MAF sensor that I didn't realise needed to come out the first time I took the top off one). To remove the lower half of the air box, you just pull it up with brute force, it sits on some rubber grommet things. I left the inlet pipe (U-shape) connected at the airbox end and unclipped it where it sucks in air at the front, then pivoted the airbox and pipe around to get it out of the car.

I can take a photo tomorrow to illustrate if you need.

Cheers wega3k,Mrs is going to buy the shifter for me Friday.I've definately seen pictures as it had a breakdown on removal of filter box and instalation of shifter, but i can't find it now?

Text is in German but the pictures will speak for themselves.

can i get a short shifter for me 2.0tdi oct? and does it make much diff if so

Yes, that guide reminds me. I forgot the single screw holding on the lower half of the air box before you pull it off the rubber mounts.

sean Gt - Yes, a short shifter will fit yours. They're common across all 6 speed box A5 platform cars, both petrol and diesel.

Yes I think it will fit. There are several possible shifters you can fit. One from the Audi TT, one from the VW Golf MkV R32, and two non-OEM ones, by Forge and Neuspeed. Each one in the list shortens the throw more than the one before. These all shorten the fore/aft throw only. You can also buy products that shorten the left/right throw, though the general view is that with the 6-speed box, that is unecessary.

Do a search, becuase the extent of the throw reduction is well documented.

do you kno what would be cheapest

TT or R32. Not the Neuspeed that's for sure. :)

and will this fit my car

Yes

ill invest

My TT did a good difference, too bad I wasn't yet aware of R32... :)

Well fitted my neuspeed tonight , it was a piece of cake thanks to members on here for pictures which assisted greatly. It took me longer to remove the airbox than to fit the neuspeed.I was quite surprised how easily the old part came off.A few tugs back and forth and it was removed.Driving the car afterwards i couldn't believe how much of a difference it made:eek:

In my opinion it was well worth the money:thumbup:

The Neuspeed shortshift is a shorter throw than the Forge and even more so than the S3 version ....... it's also quite a bit more expensive well worth the extra IMHO.

It's not to everyones taste, but I loved it :)
