Hi all,

My car is being built during week 49 (VRS TSI DSG Estate plus a few options), after placing the order in mid September. I have spoken with the dealer and he understands that all VRS cars built from 2nd November will be equiped with XDS. However, I note the comments from A6TDH above. I understood that when they change the spec they do it from a given week and it is not dependant on when you placed your order, but when the vehicle is being built. My dealer is expecting mine to come equipped with this feature.

I would imagine it is a change to the production line, so cannot imagine they will check the order date of the vehicle and say no he can't have it....etc

Has anyone else got a view on this?

Many thanks

The reason I first queried the addition of XDS was that the new brochure dated the 1st October stated it would be in the standard specification on VRS. Nothing in the small print to say that it would be standard at some future date. My dealer had found me a cancelled order which was due to be built in week 42 and as this was after the date in the brochure I hope it would be fitted until my telephone conversation with Skoda.

You would have thought they should not be advertising something they are not yet fitting.

As expected no XDS on mine built week 41 delivered week 44 (just).

There is a nice little article on the XDS system that is on the vRS here:

integrity vw: What is XDS on the MKVI GTI?

It is talking about the GTi mk6 but it is the same system as the vRS.

Apart from build week how would you actually know if your car had XDS or not?

I don't think it would benefit Skoda to start fitting differing ECU's to different cars on the same line.

Sure, they could do it, just as they fit leather seats to one & not to another...but why would they do this for an ECU upgrade (it's all in the ESP software as the sensors are already in place) which would cost them more to add to the 'non standard' list of items?

Apart from build week how would you actually know if your car had XDS or not?

The way it compensates for understeer perhaps

I ordered vRS yesterday for 1st March delivery and the brochure has it as standard. Its an electrinic diff lock that works along side the traction control. Mine WILL have it

The way it compensates for understeer perhaps

i thought maybe a badge/sticker something on the build code

I think it will have some other written indication as well.
