Hi all,

Just been checking my vRS before its MOT and while the front was up I noticed there doesn't seem to be a clip or anything securing the rubber gaiter on the gearbox end of the nearside driveshaft (at the driveshaft end of the gaiter, not the gearbox end). There seems to be grease or something leaking from under it. I tightened a cable tie round it for now but that isn't holding it, just wondering if it is meant to have a single use clip around it or not?

I had my bucket serviced this week, same thing as you, they told me they jubbile clipped it as the cable tie that was on there (???) wasn't working.

Anyone got a part no. for a single use clip that would suit?

I would just get a Jubille clip as when I order single use ones they usually send a jubille cip anyway.

Im assuming you mean the constant velocity boot that sits behind the road wheel, these are the numbers:-

N 904 425 01 (terminal Dia 32mm x 10 x 0.8) for end facing geabox)

N 904 724 01 (terminal Dia.92.5mm x 10 x 1.0) for end facing road wheel)

For the boot that sits next to the gearbox:-

N 907 810 02 (clamp Dia 81.5mm x 9 x 0.8) for end facing geabox)

N 904 425 01 (clamp Dia.32mm x 10 x 0.8) for end facing road wheel)

I don't think either of my inner boots have clips on the ends of them, and they've always been like it. I assumed they weren't supposed to have them on.

Speaking of driveshafts.... is there an uprated option for our cars? Lighter, stronger etc.

My boots don't have clips on either does anyone know if they should or not. Can't see them being a part that falls off by its own accord.

Cv boots really do need a method of securing to stop the grease escaping and dirt getting in, either with clips or cable ties
