ASR warning light on Fabia

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

This is my 1st post here. I recently sold my lovely BMW 323i and purchased a 1.4mpi Fabia, as the price of fuel was getting on my nerves. Firstly I must say the car is wonderful. It's nice to drive and lively around around town. It's also very nice on the motorway, feeling safe and does not wander. Not as fast as my 323, but still see's trebble digits:P.

Now here's my question.

I recently went to a town with many roundabouts and I noticed that the ASR light on the dashboard came on. When we parked, a few minutes later, it went off when I restarted the engine, but today it came back on again. Do any of you guys have any idea what it might be? I've got a years warranty with it from Skoda, so I'm not that concerned about cost, more from a safety aspect

Many thanks

Lightman

It could be a simple electrical fault with one of the wheel speed sensors. A fault code check by the skoda garage should be able to tell you the nature of the fault anyway, so I'd take it back and get the car scanned :).

Check battery first as follows.

After car has been standing over-night. Turn on ignition and wait till warning lights go out. Start car, if ASR and or ABS lights come back on for a few seconds battery is on it's way out.

Also check alternator is charging battery properly. Multi-meter across battery with engine running, look for 14.3 to 14.5 volts at idle.
