Is it just me who thinks the Fabia MK1 looks better

Featured Replies

I was in a skoda dealer yesterday and looked at a new fabia, i lke the estate but the hatchback looks like it has a flat roof, does anyone else think that ruins the car?

Its not a terrible looking car, but just a bit dull and mainstream. The Mk1 looked really quite funky, especially from the front. Skoda were aiming squarely at MINI owners with the roof thing, being able to spec a white roof etc. Fail? :P

I also prefer the look of the Mk1 Fabia when compared to the Mk2 Fabia (although the Mk2 grows on you) - the Mk2's roof looks like it's taken from the Mini, because the top is curved and the line of the underside (the line formed by the top of the doors) isn't, so it looks like a thick slab. I also don't like the headlight design. Having said that, there's very few new car designs I actually like (e.g the Kia Ceed) - they seem to have hit a peak around 2004 for me, e.g. I prefer the ~2004-era Golf & Polo to the current ones - it's mainly an objection to the massively sculpted light clusters...

There again, I could just be mad ... ;)

Mk1 for me (but then we do have two!) Mk2 just seems to Euro-box... :(

The Mk2 takes styling cues very much from the Mini and Suzuki Swift - it fact when it first came out I mistook several for Swifts.

Having driven both both old and new Fabia's there is no doubt in my mind that the Mk2 is a far better car - particularly with a few 'tweaks' - and it does feel roomier inside. But at the end of the day these companies have to move with the times.

mk2 looks worse, but they're both uggos

I'm still not keen on the front of the Fabia Mk2, it's too much like a Roomster, but I think it is slowly growing on me. I have seen spy shots of a face-lifted version with longer/wider headlights and it looks much better.

I quite like the swift, but not the MINI (becasue it's not a rotbox with an A-series ), the new Fabia? Not keen either, preferred my Mk1.
