VR6 vRs.

Featured Replies

Mk3 Vr6's are thirsty, front heavy and not all that quick.

The corrado vr6 is in a different league to the golf.

Yes, the 8 bhp makes all the difference to performance, and the 2.9 sips at petrol

Granted, it handles better, but that's cause the Corrado handles better than the Golf - whatever the engine!

8bhp! more like 16bhp with a fatter torque curve, plus the looks and handling

The corrado vr6 is the stuff of legends the golf was quickly swept under the vag carpet.

The mk3 16v is the one to go for, much sharper drivers car.

A simple chip can bring 15-20bhp as they were detuned by vw to sit nicely between the 115bhp gti and the 174bhp vr6.

Well... not really, since it formed the basis for 3 other hot Golfs

If it was the failure you make it out to be, VW would not have released the Mk4 V6 4Motion and R32, and the Mk5 R32.

It was the first time an engine of this type was available in the class of car, and VW pulled it off well.

The Golf VR6 handles well, albeit not as well as a Corrado, but certainly well enough to make use of all the power.

Oh, and try finding a Corrado VR6 with air conditioning

cheer up :)

I have to admit, the idea of a VR6 Fabia is a good one..... But I stick with if you want to do something different, R8 engine in the back.

I wish.

well there was naff all in it... and im guessin the engine in it coulda been tired...

for the price of a conversion i wouldnt bother if you gained that

You can remap the vRS, after that preformance comes at a high cost. And at the end of the day it will always be a TDI, I would rather spend a few grand on a blower for the vr6.

a good vr goes very well, but for me its the noise:thumbup:

My point exactly!

how about a 24v vr6 from a mk4 golf 4motion??

^^^^^^^^ I was going to say that too!

Plus you could get V6VRS as the plate! Awesome!

You mentalists...

Have to disagree with that! If the golf had been swept under the Vag carpet, why is it still one of the best selling cars today?

The mk3 wont earn a classic status like the corrado will.....but the corrado has hardly had the life of 'golf' has it.

I should be entitled to have a biased oppinion towards the corrado aswell because i owned one....a VR6 that i then went on to supercharge ;)

Better handling car and better to look at yes....but the corrado never made people forget about the mk3 at all.

as long as standalone managment is used i wouldn't have thought it would be any harder than a vr6 swap, but these engines do command a premium over a vr6 which can be picked up from 500 quid, tho i did see an r32 engine from a mk4 on edition going for 3.5k

I would love to have to money to go silly with my fabia, one day....

Jeez im not saying the engine wasnt a success, im talking about the mk3 vr6 golf.. & not future golfs.

As a drivers car the mk3 vr6 was ok at best.

then you woke up,either that or it was knackered:rolleyes:

Why?

A VR6 did 0-60 in about 7 seconds which is very similar to figures achieved by a remapped VRS.

Take into account that a lot of the Golfs will now be feeling a bit tired and it's not at all unrealistic to say that you won't see much difference.

How they deliver the power will be different but the end result will be similar.

On 12-year-old shocks my Golf handled better than my factory-fresh Fabia vRS, or my 54-plate Octavia vRS

Why don't you save yourself a load of cash and buy my Mk2 Golf with a VR6 in it!! The perfect combo for you and keep the Fabia as an everyday car...

The MK3 shape Golf is very boring now and not half the car the mk1 and mk2 was, the only bonus was it came with a very nice V6 engine option and a nice lookining saloon version.

I think I prefer the Vento VR6 in the styling department, always fancied one. Apparently they handle better than the MK3 Golf due to having a more taut rear end that doesnt flex the body as much under heavy cornering which is what the MK3 Golf was renowned for.

An easy engine conversion would be the the VAG 1.8T lump - surely someone has done this in the UK? or what about the V5 engine fitted in the Golf?
