VR6 vRs.

Featured Replies

In the past I have had silly ideas about big engines in small cars. I think I have found a compromise. I have noticed there have been several 6n polos with the VR6 conversion, so should be enough info on respective forums for project builds.

I do not want to use a petrol Fabia because it would be easier, no I don't want to consider a 1.8T because its a 4pot and sounds crap. I would however consider the 4motion v6 set up... but this would be rather expensive/complex alternative.

Several things I will have to think about. Do I buy another vRS and do it to it? Do I do it to mines? Do I do it at all?

And for those who have not got it yet... I want to put a VR6 in a vRS:rotz:

Suggestions welcome.

i suggest getting a golf vr6 and just driving around in that

Anything is possible, but it will cost a load of dosh. Hardest part would be the engine management and wiring. Remember that most of the various modules communicate using CAN-BUS, and that will be a major headache.

You may find the resulting car would need an SVT.

As said go for the ready-made Golf, quick, easy instant result.

Baring in mind that the engine will be even further in front of the front axel, it won't handle that well!

Will sound good though :)

If you wanna build it, build it. But start with a petrol, will be a lot easier. After all, a vRS is just a set of bumpers!

Well I would be looking for engine + complete wiring loom, unless I was going down the aftermarket ecu root (which I probably would)

Yes but I couldn't call it a Vr6 vRS which sounds cool in my head. I would consider a mid/rear mounted engine, but having worked on one before so much bloody fabricating to do, but the end results...

Going to have to treat this like a masters project by the looks of it :)

If you take a petrol fabia and then take all the bumpers and internals from a vRS onto it you have a vRS to all intents and purposes.

As said the VRS is just some trim, a set of bumpers and a few stickers. Otherwise it's just another fabia.

You are going to have to change the fuel tank and lots of other things otherwise. That plus a 1.2 is cheap to buy second hand, but a vRS costs more.

Also in terms of the engine, what about a V5?

If you're going down the VR6, I guess a 2.8L V6 from a MK III would be the easiest to do, or is a MK IV engine just as easy?

Well I am going to start aquiring the parts. Not got a specific timescale for this project so will just take my time and get the parts at good prices. Looking at the prices of 1.2/1.4 Fabias, will leave quite a bit more money for an engine rebuild.

Why dont you just buy the R8 engine, and drop that in the back? sorted :)

What about a 3.2 VR6 engine out of an R32 or an Audi TT Quattro 4wd if you fancy it. but like you said it will be expensive

ive heard of Lupos with TT dashes in that have been made to fit. not sure how ¬_¬

just trim them,its easy:D

you will probably get the vr6 engine to fit using existing mounts from within the vw range, wiring will be very easy if you use the qpeng standalone management, probably the only custom part you would need would be a downpipe,as conversions go the vr6 is probably the easy one

hmm.... my 2.0 fabia is for sale :D just rebuilt the engine, could be a good basis for a 20v turbo transplant

ideal base for any conversion that is:D

Minus it would be slower once done! 2.0 Fabia power FTW!

A VR6 would only take them like a prince!

yawn

cheer up :)

I have to admit, the idea of a VR6 Fabia is a good one..... But I stick with if you want to do something different, R8 engine in the back.

VR6 like the old mark 3 golfs?

am i missing something here because my mapped fabia vrs was quicker than a golf vr6 ?

i am puzzled :/

then you woke up,either that or it was knackered:rolleyes:

well there was naff all in it... and im guessin the engine in it coulda been tired...

for the price of a conversion i wouldnt bother if you gained that

a good vr goes very well, but for me its the noise:thumbup:

Mk3 Vr6's are thirsty, front heavy and not all that quick.

The corrado vr6 is in a different league to the golf.

What about a W8 in a vRS?
