VRS Lowering

Featured Replies

Hi, I have purchased a set of AP Coilovers for my VRS and will hopefully be fitting them this week. I was looking for info on what the best height to run them with standard wheels and also if go up to 17 inch rims??

Thanks for your input.

Theoretically the change to 17" shouldn't matter, because you should change the tyre profile to maintain the rolling radius.

Yes, but as the tyre is lower profile there is less tyre flex to add to the overall suspension travel.

So if you the car is set up as a good compromise between stiffness and comfort on 16" rims, then the set up will become stiffer/harsher on 17" rims, and the lowering might need to be reduced to get back to the same compromise levels.

Maybe, but as the platform height is altered on coilovers the spring height remains the same, thus the same compression is the same. The damper rebound isn't adjustable so the ride should be the same whatever the ride height,......maybe??????????

I agree the lower profile tyres will have an effect.
