Wax for my red VRS furby

Featured Replies

Hi all detailing guru's. With the winter coming in quickly I intend to clay my car this week end and stick some decent wax thats going to protect my paint work through out the winter. Any suggestions?????

Also just had my wheels refirbed so was thinking of putting that auto glym wheel sealant on unless anyone else has got any better ideas????

Cheers,

Gaz

I take it you're wanting something nice and durable for winter?

Some good choices would be Collinite 476s, Finish Kare FK1000P, Meguiar's No.16, and quite a good one for your car, although maybe not *quite* as durable, would be Dodo Juice Banana Armour.

Some of the high-end waxes such as Swissvax Best of Show and Dodo Supernatural have great durability too, but cost considerably more, and will make you want to machine polish and detail everything in sight :o

For the wheels, FK1000P works very well too.

Hope this helps

Collinite 915 is good. Around £25 for kit from Elite Car Care

Ive just been advised to get CG Jetseal for my new wheels... :)

by a certain Mr.Baker, although have also heard great reviews(DW) on the FK1000 as Leodhasach has just advised... choice is yours i guess ;)

Ive just layed down two coats of Collinite 476 (for the durabillity)... which was nice, but then a top coat of dodo juice blue velvet, which seemed to give a little extra to the final depth of shine and glossiness on my blk magic paint :)

As has already been said Collinite or some Zaino, both offer superb durability for the coming months:thumbup:

Not tried any of the Finish Kare products so can't recommend.

Hio all. Thank youi for all your reply. Sorry if I feel like I have wasted people times. But I was rummaging through my garage and found lots of good wax that I sould use first instaed of wasting money.

Belive it or not I found a clay kit Meguires, golf class wax and super resin polish.

So My question is if you had to choose between Meguires Liquid gold glass wax or meguires next generation teh wax, what would you choose. Or would you just stick a coat of each on?

Cheers.

I am afraid that neither wax is very durable and won't last long in the fortcoming winter months but you will find that some protection is better than none.........:D

Well what about the original turtle wax or am I still in the same boat?

Same boat mate, probably less protection that the Megs items though but like I say, something is better than nothing..........

If it's the hard wax a couple of coats last well, ideally used on top of a sealant such as EGP.

Right I did my car today and very pleased. I cleaned wheels, under arches, door/boot/bonnet surrounds. Cleaned engine bay. Dried everything. Used meguires scratch x remover on whole car, then AG super resin polish then the Meguires Gold glass wax. Really want to put to coats of wax on but must admit was pretty tidy after doing all that.

I do have some of that AG extra gloss protection. Wondering if it worth putting some of that on tomorrow??

What you guys think or is it rubbish or not worth the effort?

Cheers
