VRS spare keys? did you get one?

Featured Replies

Way more than 40 quid mate. I ju got a secon key for mine and the key cost £97 and another £30 to code it. Plus I Had to take the car to tham to get the key coded!!

Where do you find this bar code, or do you have to specifically request one?

Now we are on the subject of keys, our 53 Fabia with the two button rounder key has one of the buttons not working (the door unlock) on one of the sets. Is this repairable or is it a new key needed? We have tried changing the battery but to no avail.

I came across this exact problem recently. I removed the circuit board from the remote to find that the top of the switch had come apart. There were three parts:

The soft plastic button

Spring disc

Cage

The cage holds it together, I reassembled the button and disc and clipped the cage back into place and bent the sides a little to hold it all together.

I don't recall ever seeing a bar code on the plastic tab. It contains the following numbers:

VIN

Immobiliser serial

Immobiliser SKC

Key cutting number

All of them except the SKC will be on record or obtainable via a diagnostic tool scan. The SKC can be retreived by using suitable non dealer software.

When I got my car they gave me 2 keys and a plastic strip that had a barcode on it I will try and get a picture.

While I am looking check this out, it may help explain what it is.
