Has the fabia Tdi ever had more than one type of engine?

Featured Replies

Hi guys, has the Fabia Tdi 1.9 ever had more than one type of engine or has it always had the PD tdi engine?

Also does it have 5 or 6 gears?

Thanks in advance guys.

Fabia 1.9TDi PD100 has 5 gears, Fabia vRS (PD130) has 6 gears.

I think they are the same engines but with different engine codes and ECU mapping.

The non-VRS has always been a 5 speed PD100 engine - I *think* there has only ever been one type.

The VRS has always been a PD130 with 6 speed gearbox. There was a minor facelift to the car around a 54 plate where the gear ratios changed slightly - I'm not sure if there were any significant changes to the engine itself. I'm pretty sure there have also been a couple of models of turbo used.

I don't think the engine changed at the time of the minor face lift / gearbox change, but latterly the BLT engine replaced the ASZ engine - I think to give Euro IV emissions compliance - although some report a "stutter" problem which is comprehensively covered on here.

As well as the Parkers link above, Wiki has some useful info on engine types - ?koda Fabia - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

As above, depends exactly which Fabia you're talking about - as there's been three different '1.9 TDi' engines used, depending on spec and/or power output.

And if you define a VAG engine code change as a different engine, then yes, that's happened too :)

As Andy says, BLT was introduced on the vRS for Euro IV compliance reasons.

I think the 1.9 TDI (100bhp) engine has always been the same engine code (ATD). I am not sure if the gear ratios changed in later models, like the vRS did. It has always had 5 speeds. I'm not sure what the PD105 is in the Mk 2 Fabia.

As mentioned above, the vRS (PD130) has had two different engine codes ASZ and BLT.
