1998 Clio Help-Driveshafts

Featured Replies

Hi,

The Girlfriend's Clio Grande (facelift, big lights) makes a helluva racket going round corners, cv boots are shot etc. I've said I'd swap the driveshafts for replacement parts, and am looking for any hints/tips as to how to so it?

As a primarily RWD driver, I dont do too many on FWD cars.

All advice appreciated

Thanks

neil

Why not just put new CV joints on it or am I missing something?

it might have some of those driveshafts that can't be taken apart, well not easily, Froggie cars tend to have them

Urgh, what a pain :(

Good luck with that, I can't help out on that one I'm afraid.

pretty straight foward, hub nut off,un bolt & separate bottom ball joint, there may be a roll pin securing driveshaft to inner (gearbox) splines,if there is tap it out using a punch, make sure when you put driveshaft on it lines up with hole on splined shaft! you can un bolt brake caliper if you want a bit more space, dont forget a container to catch gear oil that comes out as shaft is removed & top up gearbox afterwards!:)
