2 faults in 24hrs? connected?

Featured Replies

Hi,

Last night our '06 vRS alarm went off in the evening about 9pm we assumed it was because one of the windows was found to be down very slightly. This morning the exhaust emissions light came on and has stayed on. According to my boyfriend there has been no associated loss of power (he was driving it today).

Tonight the alarm went off again.

The skoda usually does "here and there" journeys less than 5 miles when my boyfriend is using it. But yesterday and on thursday I was travelling to Manchester a 120mile round trip.

Is it just coincidence that these have both happened together?

Alarm going off when parked up could be be cars or trucks passing by if they have loud exhausts, one particular car, an old chavved up Imprezza was the culprit. I used to have that problem when my car was parked on the driveway but since then its tucked up in the garage and not affected.

As for the emission light, I can't see that is connected with the alarm, only a VAG.com scan will show up the problem. If you do have it scanned it will also show up which sensor set off your alarm.

Hi Tarmine

I did not think they had Ultrasonic or Proximity Sensors on the 06 Fabia's !

when the alarm goes off is the a taxi near by ? as the rf could set it off

No need for quote.

vRS has got limited ultrasonic protection inside (in the light panel) but no proximity, however a loud exhaust etc may set off the alarm as they tend to be sensitive to changes in air pressure (which is why car alarms often go off more on November 5th). I doubt it has anything to do with the exhaust emission warning light though.

Thanks guys.

The car is kept on the drive set back from the main road, it hasn't gone off since, which is nice! :) We intend to ring tomorrow to book it in at an independant garage to see what they can find.
