Has he ever done one before?

Has he ever done one before?

I sincerely hope so or lack of cruise will be the tip of the iceberg :rotz:

Went in Carcraft in rochdale the other day and for £120 they are supplying and fitting HID kits. 01706 647585. Don't know what the price of the kit on it's own was though but the ones they had where direct fit one's - specific to the type of bulb you have so no drilling required. Also the rating (i.e 4300k) is the colour. the higher the number the darker/different colour. 4300-6000k is white, 6000-8000k blue etc... 11000k is purple I think. under 6000k is legal i believe.

not sure about the cruise control though. when I bought my 55 plate TFSi I bought the stalk seperate but I've never fitted it. I was hoping to be able to just fit it and it would work but i take it thats not the case. Anyone actually done this?

Beam scatter and profile type will also give away after market HID. Plus normal equipped cars have interior headlight adjuster. All these plus clues dstev2000 gave can lead to MOT tester failing the car (once the rules are in force of course). Oh and insurance will be void unless they are informed of mod.. iks... it's a mine flield !!!!

Nonsense - the Octy HAS an "interior headlight adjuster" and as for the insurnace - untrue otherwise half the country would have invalid insurnace due to changing their headlight bulbs to "uprated" ones.

I fitted a kit today and just can't see the issue - the beam pattern is tighter than the halogen bulb so its actually an improvement. Whats the issue??

Oh and as for having them fitted - whats the point? £120 fitted means a cheap and nasty £50 kit with dodgy ballasts fitted in twn minutes by a spanner monkey. Seriously once the light units are out its a two connection push fit job. The bulb holder is a doddle to use and everything fits into the casing at the rear of the light unit assuming you don't use a cheap and nasty kit with large ballasts. Use a slimline kit and you don't have to drill a 25mm hole either.

As for the non working cruise control - I am going to refrain from "I told you so" but I seem to remeb er an earlier post where I suggested getting a pro to do this ........

The's why auto adjuster is used, to ensure beam it always at right level. Many drivers do not bother /remember to do this even with normal adjuster, so it' other road users that pay for their neglect, by having blinded eyes.

Regardless of how many may have then fitted, insurance cop out still applies. If car modified and you do not declare this, then insurance is invalid.

Can not accurately measure light scatter by eye.Seems consensus is, if car has standard reflector, then scatter will occur, this is lessened a lot with projector type lens.

Obviously xenon installers are going give this after market mod a thumbs up.....:D

i pro did do it.... he didnt have vag com but he had bosch system for the ecu which he activated it on the computer and he also added the anti hi-jack.

yes it was his first time fitting it to a acty 2, but as it was a genuine skoda part all the skoda instructions were with it, he had to fit a small wire from steering wheel area to a box behind the steering wheel above from the pedals. he suggested i try somebody with vag com and if i still cant activate it he will hav another look... but i dont wana get ripped off with somebody with vag com, i can go to a lad aho can do it for a £10 but he has the software but i dont think he knows how to use it....

but i dont wana get ripped off with somebody with vag com,
:yikes:
