Hey guys, little catch up on the new car

Featured Replies

Hey all, not been on for a while, life took a hectic turn just after I got my car, mainly by having 26 hours a week cut off my work contract therefore losing alot of money each week, anyway as some of you know (by the amount of stick you gave me!!!) i got a vectra gsi 3.2 v6, I'll start from the moment I picked it up, guy tells me over the phone it's taxed got a full tank and ready to go, I get a lift 55 miles to destination to meet the guy who's garage I got it from, he tells me he didn't realise it was low on fuel so gave me £20 towards a tank, as I'm sure you are aware that wasn't enough for a full tank, anyway I gets in the car and drive all the way home, really nice drive despite what I'd been told!

Get to my brothers and he says "where's your tax disc" so I ring the guy and he tells me he doesn't tax any car he sells, I was fuming coz I know he told me the car was taxed. Then my brother points that the tyres are illegal, when I went to see the car the tyres were brand new so it seems for some reason they had been changed??

So the cars sat in the drive until I can get my insurance docs, was gutted, so I had to tax it, get 2 tyres, and have the cam belt and waterpump done, an expensive start but failing that I was thoroughly enjoying the car, criuse control being my fave new feature I've never had before!! I wasn't too fussed about the guzzeling it was doing until I got a call from my boss telling me they had lost alot of work and my contract due to be renewed was only going to be renewed on a 15 hour contract and I'm lucky as there's 2 guys I know who got nothing!! So running a 3.2 hasn't been easy, so much so i've been thinking of trading it in for a small diesel car but what I've been offered us pityful. On the other hand it's such a comfortable car to drive albeit averaging 20mpg, seeing that figure really makes me miss the fabia!! I'll upload some pics tomorrow if I get the chance

Averaging 20!? Jesus! My Golf averages 24!

Oh dear! Sounds like a bit of a nightmare. Always pays to check those things out before sealing the deal - but I guess you know that now!

Looks like you need to update your signature too :)

Yeah good point!! I think a complete tool had it before me though, found half a cig lodged between windscreen and dash, had every m.o.t in their ownership fail on brakes, looking through manual and the brake wear warning light has been circled coz they obviously didn't know what it meant so kept driving on knacked brakes, tracking was out aswell, front left wheel curbed to buggery aswell but hey it's all fixed now and in good hands I'd think!! Just thinking about a short shift gear kit thing.

Defo learned a valuable lesson on car buying though now

Well there is another lesson... not to buy a Vauxhall coupled with a V6 engine :D

Double fail ;)
