central locking question

Featured Replies

Hello members. I have just bought a 06 Fabia Elegance and have a question.

When I operate the central locking only the drivers door unlocks.

When inside, I press the switch on the door arm rest panel all the other locks unlock.

Any ideas what's wrong would be a help.

Thanks.

Daft question but are you pressing the open button on the keyfob twice rather than once

On my elegance, press once, drivers door opens

Press twice rapidly and all doors inc boot open. If not pressed rapidly will not open others

Thats not a daft question. May be just a daft owner. I didn't get a hand book with the car so I'll try that and get back.

Yes thats it " simples ".

You do have to be quick with the double press though !

Thank you for the help.

Glad it was simple!

Be grateful if you can press the thanks button on my post.

Your right, it has to be double pressed very quickly but I like the fact that no other door on the car unlocks except the one I'm going to get into!

Also, here's a link to the manual, may aid you in the future!

Its a very annoying feature IMO

Selective unlocking!

This can be changed with VCDS (Vag-Com)

Yep, this can be changed by anybody with VAG-COM.

The setting is either

1. One press unlocks driver's door only, and then quick second press to umlock the rest or,

2. one press umlocks all doors, and anti-hijack feature is enabled and all doors lock when car reaches 10mph. They all unlock when the key is removed from the ignition.

Actually, as much as I like the single/double press feature, the second option sounds easier. I'm assuming you need full VAGCOM access to do this as one of those £30 code readers I keep thinking about buying is nothing more than... a code reader!

Yep you will need full VAG COM, but check the VAG COM map on here to see if somebody can do it for you.

I got mine set to the anti-hijack mode by the dealers when they did some other work, but apparently it really is as simple as changing a bit of coding. It is far more convenient for me as I have two kids and their mates to transport, and the locked doors mean that they have to pull the handle twice to get out, so no accidental door opening without the inconvenience of child locks (they are old enough to be mostly trusted)
