Wide, fast primes

Featured Replies

Up until last week I would have sworn that wide fast lenses were not really needed, however I picked up a real cheapie 24mm f/2 lens and tried it out. Got to say I am really hooked now! Shooting at 24mm and f/2 is really liberating and gives a pictorial feel that I just cannot get from slower lenses.

I picked up my copy for £60, so they are not so expensive these days.

I share a photo from my lens, and would love to see more examples of wide angle photos taken with fast lenses.

Very nice. Lovely colour and feel to that shot. Do you know if the particular lens you've bought would work on digital bodies?

I know you work on film - what body are you using?

Steve,

It is the Nikkor 24mm f/2, and it will work on digital - I tried it on my D50 and it was very good, but lost the real wide feel. Not sure how it would work on the full frame digitals - I know that digital cameras can get a bit upset with some of the old wides.

My film body is the FM3a, and I use Fuji Superia 200.
