Dance radio unit and Parking Sensors

Featured Replies

Hello guys

I got a Skoda Fabia Sport Edition with the Dance unit installed, as well as parking sensors.

When you reverse does your radio lower its volume in order to hear better the beeping of the sensors and also does the screen show you with vertical lines the distance from the object?

In my manual it states that if PDC is ON and PDC VOL is set then all the above should happen but in my case they don't.

Any others with similar symptoms?

Make sure the PDC vol is set to lower than your normal setting. For example, if you have the radio set at 18 then set the PDC vol to 12. You should also see a graphic of the car on the screen.

Hmm I'm pretty sure I've done all that - still nothing :(

i always question the need for parking sensors... learn to drive and park properly and you shouldn't need 'em! imo, it's always some other idiot that has scratched or bumped my car, sensors on mine wouldn't have prevented that! likewise with cruise control... i have never found a use that outweighs the drawback!

I'm with you on the parking sensors - unfortunately they came as standard fitment on my car.

Cruise control is fantastic though (in the right place). I have used it extensively on quiet French motorways where it makes it easy to safely maintain a constant speed, keeping within the limit. I found it improved my motorway fuel consumption on a 600 mile journey by 10% compared with relying on my foot...

I agree with both - parking sensors especially for a Fabia are not necessary - it is an easy car to manage and not long like the Octavia and Superb but they came as standard when I got the car too.

The only time I find them useful is when I need to park close to short poles. You can't see them from the rear view mirror so the parking sensors are a big help.

Still, does anybody would let me know how their Fabias' Dance radio reacts when in reverse? I think I will take mine to the dealer and let them check it. It doesn't makes sense - I've tried everything, is there a chance they haven't connected something that has to do with the sensors thus not communicating with the radio?

Thanks

If you don't get the graphic as I described above then you should take it to the dealer.

Ok - mystery solved.

I went to the Skoda service and they informed me that since my sensors which where part of a gift pack (which contained xenon lights, radio/mp3, alarm and central locking) are made by a third party and that is why they don't do what the manual describes.

All makes sense but in the same time I feel a bit cheated. Yes of course a gift but not original parts? :(
