A/C Problem on 1.2 12v MY06

Featured Replies

Hi there,

I owned a 2006 Fabia 1.2 12v. I've clocked 37.500 km and since yesterday every time i activate the A/C, a buzzz sound appears, just like a malfunctioned motor. If i step on gas pedal the sound goes up with the revs. When I deactivate the A/C the sound stops. Though the air temperature is fine. When the temperature switch is on the left the air is freezing, when it's at 22 degrees the air temp is quite mild and when is on the right is boiling hot.

Have you any idea what this might be? Thank you in advance and show mercy for my bad English.

Sounds like AC compressor noise, might be low on aircon gas.

Thanks for your reply, you are so right. That was the diagnose by a mechanic friend of mine, but he gave me no further solution. So you believe that filling it up with gas will be OK? Otherwise what? Should I replace it? I'm not in guaranty.

Thanks again.

Normal procedure is to have the old remaining gas removed, and the system is then held in vacuum for an hour to remove any moisture and check for leaks. Fresh R143a gas and oil is then added. Kwik Fit do it for £40

Well, I went at Bosch Service Center and they told me that there is no gas issue but still they didn't check the gas pressure. They told me there is 90% faulty compressor and 10% faulty tensioner. I also took the car at a Skoda dealership and he told me the same thing. He didn't check the gas too. I don't get it. How are they so sure?

The cost at Bosch service center is about 400 euros, at dealership i didn't even asked. A friend of mine with Octavia Scout was told 1400 euros for his A/C compressor.

I'm thinking of using one from a scrapyard for 150 euros. What do you think? An other thought of mine is to keep my compressor till he is totally dead since he is working perfectly till now (except the buzzzzzz noise). What is your opinion?

One last question please. Do you know if a compressor from 1.4 8v or 1.4 16v fits in my 1.2 12v HTP?

Thanks in advance for your time.

Generally if the ac compressor fails it does just that, fails and wont do anything:thumbup:

Well, today i've checked the A/C gas. It was only 240 gr there. The technician filled it up and the noise is almost eliminated, I can hear him only when the A/C starts or stops. The cost was 40 euros. I would like to thank all of you for your advice.
