Fuel problem?

Featured Replies

Ok put £10 of Diesel into my vrs on Monday and have driven to meet some mates which isn't far and to work and back which is 16 miles round trip. So in total to the £10 it's just returned 54 miles to it! Wtf?

Average on the comp was 33.2mpg. Put £10 in last night, done 9 miles and it's went down by 15 on the comp readout!

Anyone shed any light on the problem? Seems with me anytime i get money my car develops a damn problem!

No problem. With such short trips, cold engine, stop starts etc it can vary wildly and the comp isn't either very accurate or a good guide. At 9 miles the engine is only just getting warm. Don't panic : measure by brimming when you are in funds.

Sorry shoulda said i usually get 80 - 110 miles doing stop start journeys and £10 would last 3 days with my journey to Edinburgh and back included. Without that in it it'd last 3 - 4 days for work and back doing the above quoted figures

If it keeps returning 54 miles i'd have been able to keep my 190bhp fiesta st that gave the same to £10 of petrol :(

Diesel motors seem to lose a fair bit of economy in the colder months mate and I'm guessing that up there in Lanarkshire, especially this time of year, the weather is rather brisk? When I had my old vRS we went through a bit of a cold snap and my economy dropped from about 400 miles to a tank of juice to just over 300.

Dunno am ill atm so burning up 24/7! People are telling me it's chilly but i can't feel it lol

Will just need to put up with it then lol

Check air filter is clean. Scan for fault codes as it may be overfueling due to a temp sensor problem.

Got a BMC on which has done 3k so should be clean. Will yank it off anyways

It's not affected acceleration etc car still pulls like a train. My CEL is always on due to my egr removal pipe. But will get it scanned anyways, wish i knew where my scanner went save me some cash
