battery life

Featured Replies

hi there,

I did a stupid thing the other night, came home late and as usual parked infront of my garage with the usual intention of going thro' the house, opening the garage (because I can only open it from inside) and putting the car away, do not know why but the following morning my car was still outside and I had left the side lights on, fortunately i turned off the headlights before getting out, plus, and this is the stupid bit, did not even lock it....

my query is do the sidelights automatically turn off after a period of inactivity, because there was no light showing, i had to turn the switch to off and very fortunately the car started first time

mine is a Superb 2.5 V6 diesel

thanks

The headlights go off with the key but the sidelights remain on - no auto shutoff.

Unless you are planning to make some long trips soon, consider trickle charging the battery. If you start the winter with a low battery charge, you may well shorten the useful life of the battery. I use the power socket in the boot for occasional winter trickle charging as my car is sometimes out of use when I'm away. So far, no battery problems whatever.
