Lightless door

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

My Fabia has just been booked into skoda as the drivers side red door light has stopped working. First i thought bulb but apparently its a LED. Anyone got any ideas what causes it?

My 2001 elegance has 5w side light bulbs fitted in the red door lights.

They are easy to pop out with a thin bladed screwdriver, just go at the thin end closest to the B pillar and lever it inwards towards the car. The whole unit then withdraws from the door, and you can disconnect and then replace the bulb in the fiddly bulb holder.

At least that's how mine is.

If it's not the bulb, does the passenger side light up whenyou open the driver's door? If not the door switch is the most likely culprit (or wiring to and from it), and if so it is broken wiring/connector/earth propably.

HTH:thumbup:

I remember reading somewhere about the drivers door 'module' (not sure how much this module controls, but due to the nature of slamming the door when you close it, eventually the solder joints break and that can cause the issue. Mine used to be the same but is working fine now and has done for months *touch wood*

Be intrigued as to what is causing it though,,

I think he is talking about the Little Alarm Armed Led next to the Door locking Pin ..

Could be wrong though :D

There's me saying above that mine has been fine touch wood but someone mentioned the door module. Well all last week has it worked, nooo. Its not sensing that the door is open (no red door open logo on the display) and that red light at the bottom of the door isn't working. Joy of joys.

May I ask what you had replaced and at what cost?

Thanks

TBH mate im not totally sure until i read the invoice. Service had closed when i got round to pick it up and they had left my keys with reception although i was lead to believe the actually light itself was being replaced as it wasn't a lose connection (apparently). It was done under warranty so didn't cost me a bean.

I don't suppose you can remember if the dash was showing whether the door was open can you, or was it simply just no light on the bottom of the door... Thanks for the reply anyway!
