Featured Replies

Having a bit of trouble with my blueflame cat back

finnaly got it fitted this week but it sit far to far out from the recess of the bumper and i had to cut the pipe to get it to sit as close as it is, also it sits right off center

i cant work out where to go next with it as it all sits in the hangars correctly and can move it into the correct postion

and ideas would be helpfull

wow I see what you mean now.

That is not right. Have you changed the hangers?

I am guessing but either Blueflame have made the metal clips too short or the rubbers are not the right ones, so the result is your rear box is way too high.

Suggest you undo all the bolts and see if you can re position, by pushing upwards on the section from the centre to the back box .

take a few pics of the brackets and underneath the car to see how you have fitted the centre and rear box.

so the actual design of the pipe is not right then?

where did you cut it?

Having cut it i assume you are not going to return it, try what bowders said, and if that doesnt work short of bending pipes/rewelding brackets at slightly different angles(which would be a nightmare) how about cutting the rear trim slightly above and to the right to allow for the offset fit.

Are you using standard rubbers to hang the exhaust?

Have to admit, i hate stainless exhausts, i have never had one thats properly fitted.....

Change the rubbers. It is cheap,no cutting of anything, easy installation and no damage to muffler.

Why?I changed mine by myself at home and everything fitted pretty well.

thing is ehaust rubbers tend to be similar, do they do a 'long drop' exhaust rubber, i have used uprated ones in the past but they are they same dimensions as the original.

why......stainless are heavy...as they dont rust at all they dont seal as well between the joints...and they (in my experience) dont fit as well as they should considering how much they cost.

Should not have to cut anything on that system it should fit like this.

Indeed, thats why it doesnt seem right as it doesnt sit properly at all, its offcentre too.

What rubbers are you using on yours?

was thinking of contacting jabbasport as they are localish to me and maybe get some more experienced people than me to have a look

just used the standard hangers as they looked in ok nic

That's not true. All you have to do is to use tig to join the pipesHere they use a lifter for the mufller and they don't have to hold it with teir hands. That makes their job easier.

Most people who diy fit parts dont necessarily have access to tig.....or an exhaust lifter.....other than thier own arms of course:rolleyes:

I remember lying under the car with the centre piece balanced on my shoes whilst giggling the box to centre it and also trying to tighten it all up whilst under axles stands. My wife was roped in at some point and started to get spectators from the street looking in. Very funny but did it in the end. Used exhaust joining putty on each join. no leaks and fits a treat.:D

diy.....always the way:cool:

think im past that now lol

just hope the bell piece that fitted it aint messed it up and tried to gash his way through it

Try slackening off the centre section and the rotating it clockwise and anticlockwise to see if that helps lower and centralise the tail pipe.

Pretty confident it wont be your rubber mounts thats the problem..... they usually stretch with age.

Pressuming its fitted correctly, I'd be giving it back to Blueflame.... you should not have to cut pipes to get it to fit, and compared to Bowders it still looks like its sticking out to far.

the guy at blueflame said i might have to cut it as it was a old tailpipe design and wasnt sure about lenghts

In that case even though your exhaust fitter has cut it I would throw the ball back in blueflames court. Email them the photos and ask if they have any suggestions. If they don't then send it back IMO.

im going to speak to jabbasport in the morning and see if they can squeeze me in to have a look

i just have the time at the mo to be playing

my missus is about to drop so cant really have the car out of action at the moment so hopefully jabba can do it quick smart
