Options and paint/interior treatment sorry question time

Featured Replies

Ok so have ordered the car and now want to know if i can get the dealer to do a few things before i pick it up. will of course be trying to con them into giving me a full tank of fuel. can i get the deeler to turn on coming home lights and leaving home lights on the car (FL VRS) i didnt go for the light assist package so can they do that (and will they charge) or can i do it through maxi-dot?

I have heard that the Octy comes with everything in place to have two fog lights at the rear but only one works and it just needs turning on is that true?

Ok the other thing i wanted to ask is has anyone had the paint / interior protection treatment done i forget what the dealer calls it but the stuff thats like diamondbrite. does it work? and is it worth it or just a waste of money?

Twin rear fogs >can< make picking out brake lights an issue for your average Daily Mail reading numpty so consider this carefully before doing it. Sometimes just because you can doesn't mean you should!

Speak to the dealer nicely and if he's a good guy he will assist you with your various requests. If not, don't worry as there are 50,751 members on here who will be willing to help :D

As for the paint / interior treatment - do it yourself - its easy and you can buy the Diamondbrite kits on ebay for a fraction of what the dealer will charge you. To be honest the paint protection isn't worth it - it doesn't last anywhere like as long as they say and you are better off with a good regular cleaning regime followed by a good wax / maintenance wax. Post something on the Styling & Car Car forum of the site and watch all the "detailers" come out of the woodwork!!!

Hope everything goes well with the purchase.

Here is a document I knocked up before collecting my last car. Covers most things and perhaps some you didn't think of.

Hope it helps

I have heard that the Octy comes with everything in place to have two fog lights at the rear but only one works and it just needs turning on is that true?

As I mentioned elsewhere, my dealer (or one of the tech people actually) told me today that there's a problem with doing this and they are looking into it since they've been asked for the same option by other customers than me.

I got the impression it's how the lights are set up rather than coding. Of course maybe someone here knows better (since VAS is I understand not so handy for these sorts of tweaks as VDCS

and of course .. and you guys know everything! :D)

Regarding the paint treatment, I'd do it myself.

A few coats of a good wax will do the job, and is much more satisying than paying for paint protection !

Just remember to leave a few days between coats to build the wax up.

whats a daily mail reading numpty?
