Fabia sump guards

Featured Replies

Hi guys and gals

Since bieng a fabia owner and lowering it I have noticed that the sump and gear box appear to be very close to the ground. Having searched this forum it seems that this is a common problem with this vehicle

Although i have searched about for upgraded metal sump guards I havnt come accross any that are available, however I have contacted a local close friend who is a fabricator who builds and races F2 stock cars, he is able to create parts for these cars including chassis and engine parts. aswell as sump guards. He is currently in the process of making me a sump guard for my Fabia. So I was thinking if this is a common problem, why not create a solution. if this is something that people would be interested in,he is willing to make this sump guards (at a price of course) I will hope fully be getting my guard this week so I can get pictures of it and post them up if Admin are ok with this? And hopefully if people are interested we could hopefully provide with a good quality product.

Feedback on this thread ould be superb

Many thanks

James

why not just get the official skoda ones?

There was a GB on these a few years ado

It was Josh who did it

May be worth seeing if you can find that thread?

I dont think that there is a sump guard for the Fabia , yes the Octavia , but not Fabai (wait to be corrected now)

Sorry, I must have forgot to mention these are metal sump guards

The skoda ones are not sump guards being plastic, they are just a splash guard.

Not a new idea, but harder to come up with a decent, workable and well-priced solution than it would first appear :) Especially if your Fabia is well endowed with an FMIC! There seems to be the everlasting problem of where to properly fix the guard to, to provide decent protection without having to resort to welding extra bracketry in.

Here's Josh's post, much to be learned from this and hopefully someone can come up with an evolution of this product. The craftmanship was spot-on with this one, but it's not been bettered.... yet - maybe this can be the one :rubchin:

I assumed skoda did a sump guard for the fabia as they do for the octavia.

Certainly on the MK I octy, you could get a metal sump guard from a dealer.

Nope, nothing available like that from Skoda for the Fabia unfortunately. AFAIK, the Mk1 Octy is the only model they've ever produced one for officially.

Unless someone gets in touch with the Skoda WRC team and finds out what they managed to come up with! :)
