Hmph - 1.2 Yeti sold before it arrived for my test drive!

Featured Replies

We test drove the 2.0 140 diesel but really thought we needed to test drive the 1.2 TSI petrol because this is our prefered engine. We've waited AGES for it to arrive in the showroom this month but just been told it's been sold before it's even got here! AGGH.:(

Farmers in Nottingham are now trying to get another 1.2 asap.

The best engine according to all the reports, turbo charged and super charged. I'm ordering one faith, it's the only model with the DSG box, which are amazing. 3 month wait min, maybe 5 months!

I drive a 07 Passat 2.0 TDI DSG. I've had a few of the same lumps in Golfs before my Passat. They are not that economical even in the manual Golf i've struggled to push 45-47 mpg. They're noisy, and really you have to be doing 20,000 miles a yar to pay the extra premium over petrol. Especially when diesel costs10p a litre more.

Also i'm perplexed at why everyone is still buying manuals? with the traffic everywhere you go so grid locked these days why bother?

Yes, that's what we've decided as well. But have you been able to place your order?

I've driven autos for the last 20+ years, by choice. However, you pay in fuel consumption - DSG should fix that! But you pay also more for an auto, and it's worth less when you come to trade it in. Again, hopefully DSG will be more popular on the second-hand market than traditional autos are, and hold values higher.

The 1.2 doesn't have a supercharger, just a turbo.

Personally while I quite like a DSG I'll probably order a manual as it's a fair bit cheaper and I don't have to sit in many traffic jams.

Diesel is currently virtually the same price as petrol and given the difference in CO2 utputs for a lot of company drivers it's still cheaper to go for a diesel.
