Clicking Climatronic?

Featured Replies

Hello all,

I've noticed that my Climatronic system makes little clicking sounds sometimes when it's moving a door/vent about etc, and according to this website:

http://octavia-vrs.com/technical/common_problems.htm

...it's a common problem that can be easily solved? Anyone know anything about this? It's not a big problem and I wouldn't bother taking the car in specially to resolve this, but if I'm going in for a service sometime soon, I may mention it...

Regards,

Richard.

Its a common problem. Dealer should reflash climatronic with new settings and clicking dissapears.

Ok, thanks.

Any idea what the actual problem is?

Hmmm. Have identical problem and dealer alleges no quick fix, but needs to dismantle entire dashboard to determine which servo motor is at fault!!! Not something I want to agree to in a hurry.

Anyone know what the settings refresh involves? Any references to a technical bulletin for example?

An update. Dealer confirms the reflash was the first thing they did, but no improvement. Hence took advice from VAG Technical who said (as above) must find out which servo motor is playing up. Which means dashboard out (which I don't want - for obvious reasons).

iirc Mine had solenoid valves changed which sorted the problem, problem came back after a good while (maybe dodgy valve).

And did that involve ripping out the dash to fit?

Mine does this alot. Sounds like a lot of little relays clicking. I didn't think anything of it until now. I only notice it when I'm stopped in the car.

Something to add to the fix list before 3yr is up.

Well the explanation was that from the factory there were errors in the firmware and the step motor had wrong limit values and that is why clicking occurs.

Dealer did reflash two times, because the first time reflash settings were not saved somehow..

I also get this clicking from time to time.If it means the CC is not working as it should and this will lead to a major fault/system failure then I am concerned, but if it means that it is still working and will continue to do so,albeit with a bit of noise then I am inclined to leave it and review the position just before the warranty expires.

afaik this is the correct explanation. Mine does it as well, also the Climatic (semi automatic AC) is suffering from it.

Common problem ever since the launch of Golf V some years ago. The stepper motors can be re-adjusted, so I read, without removing the dash. Only my dealer does not know about this and in the end, I can pretty easyly live with it....my heavily whistling Turbo, sounding like being on the way out, is of much more concern to me...luckily I have the 4 years warranty extension.
