Paint job!!

Featured Replies

Hi

We have a 6 month old met silver furby Vrs that is going to the dealers next week to have a new front bumper as the paint is peeling off, this on top of the front grille that smashed when closing the bonnet (Skoda will not pay for that - reckon it's not a manufactures fault!) so we're over

By the sounds of it you are a unlucky one to have all these fault. Don't think anyone else has had that many faults?

As for the groan on the nearside rear brake....It is a common fault. Can't believe your having to pay for the front grill.

Dont you have a clear plastic strip on the bumper where the bonnet grille touches it? ?

Never noticed that on mine

I will take a pic in an hour or 2

Cheers

Dont you have a clear plastic strip on the bumper where the bonnet grille touches it? I do  Maybe the dealer took it off when they were preping it for you by mistake?

errrr, I think so, can't check as it's my wifes car and she's at work. I think it has but the grille broke at the top. Actually has to unscrew the whole grille to close the bonnet to get to the dealers as it had pushed upwards. I'd closed it so many times before that I can't think I did something wrong however Skoda's customer care (there's a laugh) were less than polite and dismissed me straight off!

hey ho, I guess that's life!?!

This groan on the nearside rear brake..

see my thread http://www.briskoda.net/forums/t16439-not-happy--.html

Is this the same thing???

Don't think so. When we reverse and brake then it groans LOUDLY!! Sometimes you can hear the groan as you reverse without braking. Dealer says the pads are sticking and it's a common fault. Don't hear it when the car is going forwards or when we brake! Only in reverse. My parents had something similar on their Zafira.Their dealer sorted it by glueing the pads to the pistons (I think - I'm not very technical!) and that worked. I'm told by our delaer that unless enough customers complain to Skoda nothing will be done in sorting this problem at the factory. It's a long term subject on this site so i don't want to bring it all up again - more concerned about the paint etc at the minute, the plan is to keep this car 5 years and I still want paint on it then!!

I'm sure I don't have that film. Will check at dinner.

I've got the film. It's just a piece of sticky back plastic that they normally remove on the PDI. It's a shame that you have all those faults. I've had 1 or 2 problems also, but the brake noise is common across most VAG cars, not just the Fabia

Heres a couple of pics of the clear plastic strip on the bumper:

Yep, we have the strip of clear film however as I said earlier the grille smashed at the top not the bottom - top right as you look at the griile - big crack and two pieces of plastic missing - wish I'd taken pics now but was so P***** off at the time I didn't!!

Thanks for the pics though,

MD

I have too noticed the clear strip on the bumper....although how is that supposed to stop the grill from cracking, or am I missing something

Have to say you must be one of the unlucky ones....this is my fourth from the VAG stable (although first skoda) and I have never had brake probs, if anything I find their brakes to be pretty good.....touch wood.

Must adnit though, I often worry about the vunerability of the grill whenever I open/cose the bonnet...will be extra careful in future.

Good luck :)

Yep I reckon we have been unlucky - the Vrs is my third VAG car - 2 VW's before and had a few tiny things but not as bad as the Vrs. However I can't stress enough that Kate & I love the car, great value for money and a smile a minute when driving it, just hope these niggles get sorted and like you I am now really carefull when closing the bonnet - like

Well, good luck my friend, and to Skoda UK....

YOU SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF YOURSELVES. :(
