Hi Everyone,

My name is Wayne and I am a newbie. I currently own a modified Rover 620ti (2.0 turbo) and I am looking into buying an Octavia vRS. I really want to get a Black Magic, Hatchback.

If anyone has got any advice on the best place to buy a new one at the moment it would be much appreciated

Cheers

Wayne

Welcome wayne

I have a work mate who had a 620 turbo who chopped it in for an octy. Didn't get the vrs though :(

I don't know too much about where to get a new octy. Have a look on Skoda's website. In the used section, you can find ex-demo / delivery mileage only octys for a fairly good price I think.

Happy hunting :)

Hi Xavier,

Cheers for the reply. I love my Rover to bits but I have got to the point with it where I am just spending too much money and time on it. And having worked out how much it has cost to run over the last 2 years that I've had it, I will actually save money paying the finance on a new vRS

I test drove a black vRS ex-demo from a dealer in Kent on Saturday. It had cruise control and audible parking sensors (neither of which I am bothered about tbh) and the screen price was

OK. regarding paint, black and silver are metallic (so cost a little extra). yellow and red are not.

cruise can be retrofitted if ever you did want it. Things which can't / aren't recommended for retrofitting are sunroof, xenons, esp. So if you want those, you need to get them as part of the car.

I'd never been in my mate's 620. I don't think it was really tweaked with. But I think it didn't go round corners as sharply as the octy. Once you've fettled with the octy, can become quite a sublte track weapon too

Wayne I bought my Fabia from Loyldstsb carslect 1K cheaper than the dealer. Would recommend them to anyone.

620ti - nice car... a real street sleeper :D

The octy will defiantely handle better.. and there will prob be nothing in the performance..

bearing in mind, the list price on a brand new one is 13500 before dealer discount, you should be able to get a tasty deal...

Thanks for the info

The dealer has just called me back and there are two black vRS's coming into the country next week.

1. Has Cruise + Parking Sensors

2. Has Cruise + Side Airbags + Sunroof

I definately don't want the sunroof as I am very tall and need the extra headroom. So, option 1 looks good but I explained that I did not really want the optional extras so if he can do something on the price then I would go for it.

You are right about the 620. Mine is lowered and on bigger wheels and it still does not handle that well. (Although it kept up with my mates Evo2 on a Castle Combe track day in the summer ;) )

The Octy definately seemed like a nimble car on the testdrive. :)

Thanks for the other replies guys. I am starting to feel at home already.

I am a regular on the Rovertech forum so if I get the vRS (which is looking very, very likely) you will probably see a lot of me. Especially at meets etc :)

For anyone that's interested, here's a pic of my Rover. So, you can see why I will be heartbroken when it goes...

Nice

are the brakes as shocking as on the 220Ti? lol

i really liked rovers marketing for their "hot hatches" back then:

take a rover 216 gti (or coupe) .. add 200bhp 2l turbo engine....

add a LSD..

keep standard brakes :D

was a very very very fast car.. in a straight line!

i remember seeing a quick write up of it in evo " the performance bargain... handling suspect verging on lethal"

Mates mum had a 220 turbo couple. Was quick.

Yeah, that's about right

The standard brakes on the 620ti are also not very good. The photo is from last year, it's actually got Black Diamond grooved discs and Pagid Fast Road pads on the front now and stops a lot better.

Got to say the brakes on the vRS seemed very good even in standard form. The discs look pretty big and I guess the guess the green calipers must help

The really, really good news is..... I have just put the deposit down on the vRS... :)

It is a brand new black magic hatchback and is due into the dealership in 10-14 days (been on back order from another dealership since July  ). It has got cruise control and the audible rear parking sensors. And I paid list price even with the options and the paint

How happy am I !! :)
