Projector foglights

Featured Replies

I added projector foglights to my previous car and wasn't overly impressed with them in fog, apart from in real 'peasoupers' which are quite rare now.

I was out driving at night in the rain and know there are a couple of 'suicide' kerbs en-route. I couldn't really see them through the rainspotted margins around the bloated door mirrors but just guessed my positioning from previous trips in the dry and daylight.

I suspect it's only a matter of time when I'm on a less familiar road that I won't know about similar kerbs until I actually hit them, so I was wondering if projector foglights could pick these out. Do the current OEM fitted foglights pick these up or are they set more generally for distance straight ahead.

Anyone here retrofitted front fogs?

The foglights on the FL are very good at picking out grass verges and kerbs.Mine do not shine very far ahead. I've used them in conjunction with dipped beams on some challenging roads in the Peak District.

Sorry officer , but it was foggy 1500 feet up Axe Edge.I'll switch them off . No those now are the DRL. No I can't switch them off. Well, not without reading the manual......

This is one of the offending kerbs on the exit island:-

Easy enough to see in daylight, marginal at night, but invisible in the rain!

Here's another:-

Google Maps

There's a kerb at the west of the Green Lane junction which suddenly sticks out into the road. The only clue to its line is the dotted junction line which can't be seen travelling west.

Lastly this:-

Note how the kerb on the left suddenly kicks in away from the straight, to try and throw you into the mini roundabout, or stopping you from driving straight ahead down The Ave. Not bad in day but difficult to see at night.
