iPhone compatibility

Featured Replies

Hi

Does anyone know if the iphone 3Gs is compatible with the Bluetooth system on Skoda Octavia VRS? My new car arrives on Friday - cant wait but now concerned that the bluetooth wont work!

Thanks

Does an Iphone have rSAP capability?

Yes? - Should be ok

No? - Oh Dear...

The brochure lists all of the compatible phones (near the back) and the iPhone is not one of them. Sorry ...:thumbdwn:

UPDATE.

I just googled it and it came back as NO.

Confused.com! I guess the proof will be in the pudding on Friday!

Just don't choose a Nokia 5800, N97 or most other Nokia "Smartphones" they're utterly useless, they are so S__L___O_____W.

Do yourself a favour look for a Sony Ericsson,

Doh!!

I have a Nokia 5800 and my on order VRS will have the full factory BT kit

Why is the Nokia 5800 slow and what is slow?

Or, avoid SE because they make terrible phones that break easily - both hardware and software-wise! :)

Almost everything unless you have a high firmware v30 onwards.

The file handling is abysmal, use the camera & try and find the picture you'll wait about 3-4 mins for it to find it, the camera is piece of ****.

The keylock is temperamental, you need to be careful to check that the lights go out otherwise you can start making unexpected calls.

The new firmwares are still buggy as well.

Just about the only redeeming thing is that its got rSAP.

I will NEVER buy another Nokia phone... I'm going back to SE.

Does anyone actually use an iphone with the BT factory fit though??

The question is more like: Can you even pair an Iphone with a VW groups integrated BT system?

I agree, there seems to be such conflicting information on here about that. Some say yes, some say not at all! Very confused!!

i have an iphone and its regularly logging on and off the bt kit in mine. yet my sony ericsson use to log on and that was the end of it.

I have the factory kit retro fitted to my 06 vRS, and my iPhone 3G work perfectly. Shows phone book, recent call etc in the Columbus.

Thats great thanks. Fingers crossed then! Will let you know when I take delivery on Friday!

There are 2 factory Bluetooth Kits, a GSMII & GSMIII.

The GSMII doesn't require RSAP and is what the majority of people on here have if they retrofit, the GSMIII is what is supplied from the factory on new models and this must require a RSAP phone which the iPhone isn't.

So basically a new factory model with BT the iPhone won't work.

Hmmmm one step forwards, another one back! Isn't rSAP one of the thinks Nokia was "upset" with Apple about?

Ok so now taken delivery of the new VRS. Got the dreaded (but expected) message - Phone not Compatible. Think it has the GSM III kit fitted.

Question is whether to wait for Apple to develop their software or switch to a Nokia?

I have iPhone 3G and it works fine with pre-FL Octy vrs bluetooth. I have the simple variant of the BT HF in octy. Apparently the more expensive premium rSAP one doesn't work with iPhones. So depending on wether you ordered BT or Premium BT..

My basic BT works fine with iPhone and maxidot etc etc.

I have a pre FL octy & Stuvrs supplied my BT kit. my iPhone works perfectly. OK occasionally it disconnects, but then reconnects a minute later.
