Exhaust Emission is to High - Felicia 1.3 MPI - 99

Featured Replies

Hi Guys,

Having my Felicia 1.3 Mpi for over 3 years now never needed to go to any garage :) however in last (NCT) test the Exhaust Emission show to high even so the lambda is not that bad as per the NCT report itself, moreover the Engine Oil temperature seem high ?? Don’t know what to do, any suggestion.:o

NCT result:

Engine Oil temperature = 104 C

Low Idle CO 0.68 vol% to pass need to be lower than 0.5%

(880rpm ) HC 0 ppm

High Idle CO 0.77 vol% to pass need to be lower than 0.3%

(2860rpm ) HC 74 ppm

Lambda: 1.006

I'd start by changing the spark plugs, leads, oil and air filter (unless done in last 6 months before NCT), then giving the car an Italian tune-up.

There's no leads on the MPI as it has one of those new fangled coil pack things that goes on-top of the plugs.

And if no luck after Ken's suggestions I guess that possibly leaves the Cat converter (most expensive) and the temp sender.

Also just thought according to the companies that sell carb/fuel injection cleaner cleaning the throttle body can reduce emissions, don't know if it does or not but it's worth a try as junk builds up there over time.

Thanks KenONeill Idid change spark plugs, oil + air filter and fuel filter!!!!!

But could you explin what is Italian tune-up?

Thrash it, drive it keeping the gear low, revs high and right foot heavy :) Might be worth putting some redex in the fuel tank before too.
