The old hesitation malarkey

Featured Replies

Thinking about the niggles I had with my vRS when I first bought it, it occurred to me that I can't remember when I last noticed a hesitation. I haven't specifically done anything to fix the hesitations, as I'm not mechanically inclined and I'm not inclined to throw money at garages to sort out minor niggles, when they probably wouldn't find anything anyway.

Obviously I'm happy this issue has cleared up, but I'm curious as to what happened. Early on the hesitations were quite common and I have an impression that their frequency diminished over time for a while. I can't tie their disappearance to a specific event, such as a service, but I can't say with certainty that I've had any hesitations since it had it's 5 year service.

I am inviting wild speculation here. I know we'll never really know what the problem was and why it cleared up, but it's a great opportunity for some hand waving.

It wasn't a low mileage car for it's age when I got it, so I don't think it needed an Italian tune up, but I don't have any better explanations.
