Travelling abroad

No. Octavias with Xenons only. Fabias with Xenons are a different system and without you need convertors

For advice on what is compulsory & what is advisable in various European countries I always use this site

http://www.rac.co.uk/travelservices/european_advisor/

This will be adequate for general European touring

Other bits of advice, if the car is due a service shortly get it done & at least a week before you go, gives time to find any "garage **** ups" before you leave

Take basic spares, bulbs, a few fuses & anything you know is suspect (spare coil pack possibly)

If you have a car that critically neeeds high Octane fuel & this probably is only Critical on Jap imports check fuel grades in the countries before you go & carry some Octane booster just in case (Subaru pistons arent generally available in most European countries)

European drivers tend to be far more respectful of lane discipline so please respect that, It really anoys me to see the Brits all sitting in the middle lane of the motorway as they do here

Should you be driving "enthusiastically" I would add the following based on several cannonballs

Leave the Radar detector in the boot in France, its a bigger fine than speeding & you will also loose it

In some continental countries the police will confiscate your licence on the spot for excessive speeds & you cant drive without it so apply to Swansea for another licence as "youve lost yours" passenger can then drive the car away before you resume.

If you have a piccie licence take the paper slip as well, should you break down you cant hire a car without it (although some companies seem to overlook it

If you go through France at night the Police are no where to be seen so fill yer boots!

We ran over 100 cars the length of france in September, all on the same road within a space of a couple of hours & some topping 200, and not a single Policeman was even seen

If youve been ragging it between toll booths look out for police doing checks at the pay booth, its normally tax checks but if you have been spotted going excesivly fast they will take your toll entry & exit times to work out youre speed. As far as I know despite various myths this is always done manually by the Police & there is no automated system (yet) If it looks dodgy LOOSE THE TOLL TICKET ! you will have to pay the toll assuming you entered at the start of the motorway but you get off the speeding

Oh & Enjoy!

Does this relate to a Fabia without Xenons?

Fraid not
