Help - whirring / screeching noise

Featured Replies

can any one help please - just lost power and car now making a whirring / screaching noise which gets higher in pitch when the revs increase.

is this a turbo problem

also the car is under warranty so is it likely this will be covered

any feedback welcome

cheers

Oh dear, sounds like another turbo has gone, :rotz:

if the turbo has gone, i wouldn't drive it, as turbo bits could go through the engine, and that will be expensive

When my turbo went recently the car cut out and would not start. I have read elsewhere that the boost pipe can come off? In my case the parts were covered by Skoda even though it was out of warranty so you should be ok there.

thanks guys - hope it is just the boost pipe

will call the dealer tomorrow and have it checked out

If your car hasn't been modified and had the boost pipes removed at some point, it's unlikely to be that. Also, when the hose comes off, it's a throatier sound and the car will hardly rev at all, at least that's what mine does, and I doubt you'd hear a whirring / screaching noise. Sounds like the turbo :(

thanks to those who responded to my last post - skoda confirmed turbo blown so they are fitting a new one - luckily under warranty

stuck with a VW polo 1.4 for a few days - can't wait to get my Fabia back - you really notice the difference don't you

Oh no what is it with turbos on these cars?
