Car is home from the Jabba stage3...

Featured Replies

Drove it home last night in what i can only describe as the worst 200 mile ive driven in my life...torrential rain from leaving peterborough at 5pm till arriving on tyneside at 9pm ish...visibility and water spray was horrendous there must have been hundreds of incidents around the country last nite :(

The car now....still looks standard (alloys/exhaust apart)..A little noiser...driven normally you wud'nt really know it was modified...all this car wants to do now is rev....give it some and its pulling power is phenomenal right up to well over 5000rpm...could only drive at 60 ish mph due to conditions and averaged 60mpg,obviously the mods are expensive along with brakes/susp that also need upgrading but they do make it a unique car..:munch:

remember you only live once...;)

Many thanks to Jabbasport and Michael who done the work for a thoroughly neat and professional job...Highly recommended for any modifications.

I feel your pain mate, I only drove down 3 junctions of the M1 last night at the same time, and stuck at 60mph, for the same reasons.

Your going to have to take us lowerly hybrid's out in it fella at some point! LOL

I hope the weather picks up so you can have abit of a play and see whats it like matey :)

50hp more than mine and 60lb.ft more, I want lol!

Ah well, yeah bet it was a lovely run home!

Plenty of time to make use of that power when it's a bit drier

Steve

after driving grumpys 250bhp fabia i can only say i'm really feeling very sorry that your first drive you couldn't use any of that performance:( sure you will rectify that in the future, its lots of fun i promise:)

You will absolutely love it once it dries out a bit

What sorta times does a TDi run with a tad more power fella? I think I have a boost leak as should be running similar power you, fueling should give me 240bhp (mapper says) and then with the water meth that should give me a tad more, was hoping for 250bhp once the leak is finish, and 400lb.ft, basically your spec!

it ran a 14 second time at york,5 seconds to 60mph with mr shifty behind the wheel it moves a bit,he added water meth after this but graham broke it and judging by the average gains i've seen with the wm kits an extra 10-15bhp would be a probable increase maybe take it into the 13's

Sounds about right, as I guess mine has less bhp and that, but less weight, so similar bhp per ton figure.

Any idea what terminal speeds it was hitting? As this is where I am wanting to better myself now. On the Santa Pod CC my best is a 13.7 IIRC, but at something like 99mph.

Once I have this boost leak issue resolved, if its still not making the power it "should" be, im going to be abit losted as to what the issue is! So im hoping it is just the 'bent' forge bit!

This was without the devils own kit fitted and the only record I know of 1/4 time for the skip (figures are on the right).

Not sure if this was second gear start or not. If not' it should have been as you deffo get quicker acceleration that way in the skip. Do you think this was a decent reaction time or a bit slow?

Water/Meth is meant to give an extra 10+ hp and more torque with a much cleaner burn, but as Gary said Grumpy broke it before I bought it! :slap: Hence current power figures in my sig are without water/meth. So I rekon with it re-fitted I would be nearer Warwick's figures.

that wasn't the quickest time it ran that day,any low 14 is a very respectable time

I will assume the 60ft time, is infact the 330ft time! Either that or OMG its fast in 2nd gear+

The reaction time doesnt really matter, but its not a great reaction time, but then again the guy driving it might not have been going for reaction, but the perfect launch, the 330ft time (if it is) is good, terminal speeds are low however? Maybe short shifted early or it had everything in, and a full tank? Im on the CC list for Santa Pod and my fastest time was with a terminal speed of 99mph IIRC.

I was driving from Preston to Newport on Friday night. Was so much worse than usual due to the rain and roadworks. Normally a shade over 3hrs, on Friday it took nearly 5 :(

Just popped in to explain that the reaction time on my old slip from York was actually the 0-60 time. They had a two lane setup in each drag lane, one lane timed reaction time, one lane timed 0 - 60 instead. So the Shifty Fabia.... lol, did a timed 0 - 60 in 5.85 seconds, and yes it was a 2nd gear launch. I only got 4 runs in as I had been to the RR day in Leeds, and I'm sure with better launch I could have broken into the 13's. Also the water/meth that Graham broke, and which is worth reinstalling Sausage Roll! - made a hell of a difference to performance, and on killing the soot - I digress - this system added a good 20bhp IMHO, so could have had a slight impact on the results if it were tried again. Not to mention if it had an LSD fitted too. I would guesstimate low 13's for that car.

Nice to hear from you fella. Not often you pop in to us on here anymore! The Shifty Fabia still drives like an absolute beast you'll be happy to know! :)

my rr graph shows the water/meth only added 10bhp...better than nowt :'(

That would make alot of sense! Impressive times for what must weight in atleast 100-150KG's more than mine! What nozzle did you use for the meth and was it pre-turbo too? What psi did you have it coming in at?

I'm not so sure the car was that much heavier than yours, it was totally stripped apart from 2 lightwieght buckets, harnesses, and my stereo. The car was minus spare, carpets, plastics, if it came out, it was in a boc somewhere and not in the car.

PSI - I had it coming in at around 25.That's where on the map still running on the car, unless it's been changed, had the most unburnt fuel. The nozzle was located where the egr used to be.Can't remember the nozzle size sorry.

Nice to hear from you Dave :)

No problems, fair enough Ive still got the heavy seats in the front and a few more bits to take out but getting there slowly! I have a twin jet one pre-turbo the other is mounted pre-map sensor so it could register the colder air intake temps if that makes sense?

When is this monster out and about?

Cant wait to see it around

It's been wrapped in cotton wool and left alone over the winter when I reckon it should have been used as it should. :D

Having said that, mine's been cocooned all winter, but for different reasons....
