Best way to combat wheel hop?

I'm getting vicious wheel hop in second and even third a little. Whats the best way to combat this or do I need to learn to drive lol :o.

On the Mk1 dog bone bushes helped do they do them for the Mk2 and would new springs help?

WALK is a great mod, but won't do much to stop wheel hop. The dog bone mount is the one to go for. You're lucky you have a petrol vRS, the mount won't fit the TDI...

Will the dog bone increase the cabin vibrartions as in the Mk1?

Learn clutch control? All you're going to do is FUBAR the wheels a lot earlier than they should be.

Are you sure you havent got damaged suspension?

upgrade your lower egine mount full stop. I have the ECS insert, and it doesnt cure it. I ve driven a stage 2+ cupra with the VWR lower engine mount and didnt notice any extra vibration, and there was NO wheel hop at all

get a rear wheel drive if you want to drive that hard. I have never had this problem with the Z4. but with all my front wheel drive cars it has always been an issue when they lose and gain traction

VWR lower mount will erase pretty much all wheel hop, expensive but good

look into BSH, VF engineering, ECS etc. they all have lower engine mounts.

the lower mounts dont seem to increase vibrations, whereas he side mounts and transmission ounts do increase them

Ta but sometimes the urge to floor it is just too great and I want wheel spin not wheel hop.

Wheel hop on FWD is almost impossible to cure, its a symptom you get due to the car being pulled along by the front end rather than pushed along by the rear on RWD cars. I changed the suspension setup on my old mk1 vRS, but it made little difference and it still hopped away if you wellied it.

Sure, but it's probably better than all the excess wear and tear being put on the rest of the cars suspension and drivetrain if it's hopping around all the time.

this is my take on wheel hop(correct me if im wrong though).

wheel hop is caused by the traction control cutting power when it detects wheel spin. The engine is secured by three mounts with soft rubber bushings to dampen vibration, however allow alot of engine movement, (alot more than you would think as well)

Now when the TCS cuts power, the engine mometarily rocks causing the wheel to brake traction again only for the TCS to cut in again, repeating the problem. And the sensation of wheel hop.

dont lwer your tyre pressures. IMO thats a stupid idea. your tyres should be at the optimum settings, change that and they wont perform as designed.

If you want to cure wheel hop do something about the engine movement. The lower engine mount will make the most difference,

just do the ECS mount or go further and get the VWR, Vf engineering, or BSH lower mounts. THAT will reduce over all wear and tear on your car.

I agree not only will the tyres wear unevenly but you will get less mpg too.

I have seen the powerflex one @ £13.93 inc delivery and it gets a good write up with no extra cabin noise even with the front dog bone mount bush fitted too.

The powerflex bush for the front of the dog bone mount is £16.08 inc delivery but I'm not sure it would make much difference once the rear one is fitted, should I get both? :cool:

Wheel hop isn't caused by traction control. My last Octy I suffered from it a lot (On the rare occasions the 1.6 could break traction under power), but the Octy II I have with ASR (It cuts power when it detects wheel spin) suffers from it less even with ASR turned off.

Dunno why but even with the ESP on it still does it, I suppose the wheels aren't spinning much, more jumping.
