Creaking noise

Featured Replies

Right well on the drive in this mourning noticed a Creaking noise (maybe a bit of a clunk too not sure) mostly when I was moving off or stopping and sometimes a very little at sub 10mph any way not sure what it is. I had a new anti rolebar and bushs put in last summer so It cant be that after 16months could it? other possiblities would be a another bush but which one? is it it just the cold and they need greasing.

Any ideas peeps?

2003 vrs.

Creaking from the front while driving is pretty much definately going to be FARB.

What bar did you have fitted? Were they poly bushes?

well not really that much at driving more at stop start, I think they were poly ones I said to the garage get a OEM bar and poly bushs dont know what they used, thats pretty rubish if thats all it lasted. What are the chance it could be some other bushs?

Will prob take it to skoda just to get them to look at it on the ramaps and see if they can see anything.

The only reason I dont thinks it the arb is it not making the same noise as it did last time, that was more of a cluncking this is more of a creaking (could alwas be 1st sign of it going I guess)

Sounds like you need to put some copperslip between the poly bushes and bar then.

There's not much else I can think of that creaks. Rad mounts squeak, wishbone rear bushes knock, drop links give a dull rattle, center exhaust mount has a metallic rattle. Only experience I have of loud creaking is with the FARB.

I have the old type bar on mine, with the plastic sleeves. To remedy the creaking I removed the sleeves and fitted 17mm Skoda bushes (19mm originally with the sleeve). The revised bar does not come with the sleeves, and runs 17mm bushes. I presume you have the new type bar, without the sleeves. So maybe try fitting the 17mm standard bushes from Skoda. Cheap and easy job to do.

I dont know if it the new bar or the old maybe it just a case of the grease drying up, Ive had the centre exhuast mount done already ;) (who hasnt had that go!)

Well thinking about it a bit more today and think I noticed it at idle when stationary wondering if it could be the dogbone bush that was put in in the summer and the grease has pos all dryed up and it needs some copper slip.

The noise does only seam to come on and start and stop also doesnt seam to affect it going over speed humps so maybe dog bone is a possiblity.
